Hi

I have a gorgeous ds of 10weeks who is an angel in the day. However at night he seems to have an issue with sleep. Its not that he wants to be awake but it seems that his tummy/wind is waking him up. For the past two nights we've been up every hour if not more. He is eating every 4hours through the day and night and seems to be quite content with that. A doctor has advised that he has mild reflux - but i'm a bit doubtful as he's never sick and seems to eat ok, but he is woken by a tummy ache or chronic trapped wind. We've propped his cot up - any other advice? Would love to hear any tit bits of information or if anyone has the same problem or had the same problem. Thanks so much.

What is he like when he wakes up in night? Is he drawing legs up and crying in pain or just uncomfortable? Does he feed ok without wriggling around?Mr dd had silent reflux with no vomitting- its quite hard to diagnose when theyre not being sick- just wondered if it could be this.

In the last two weeks he has started wriggling around while we're feeding him. And in the night most of the time he does wake up crying in pain rather than just uncomfortable. Does this sound similiar to your dd silent reflux? What did you do for her? How long did it go on for?

Lalaberry, we tried colief in milk first which breaks down the lactose. Some babies find it hard to digest and this can lead to excessive wind. That helped a bit but we got her put on Infant Gaviscon(you can onlt get it from your GP). The next day she was a different baby!We had to be very persistent as GP kept saying it was colic. We also raised her cot up one end with phone books under the legs. Your ds's symptoms do sound very similar. May be worth giving the gaviscon a go. You just put it into their warmed milk.

Forgot to say, my dd went undiagnosed for 4 months and it reached the stage where she cried 8 hours every day so its in your interest to get some treatment. Youre lucky your gp has recognised this so early. Let me know if you want to know anything else. My dd is 7mo and things have only recently eased.

Hi, my 9 week old is on Infant Gaviscon. At first it was prescribed, but you can actually buy it from the chemist - it's about £4 I think.

Hope you get it sorted out soon. I'm having the opposite trouble - he's an angel at night and pretty difficult during the day!

thanks for all you advice the paediatrician has just put him on ranitadine with domperidone and it seems to be a bit of an improvement but feeding him is still a bit of a struggle. I will ask him about the gaviscon when i next visit. Thanks again.
