Or was it just the passing of time that made the difference?

DS is 4 months and I'm about to embark on the no cry.......he's on a crap cycle of short naps and up every couple of hours at night. Having previously been fab.

His feedings gone to pot in the day as the world around him is far more interesting, and so is talking and cooing at me Have tried quiet, darkened rooms etc but no luck.

I tried it and liked it but more for it being kind of soothing/reassuring (to me not the baby!). The author is very laid back iirc - co slept with all/most of her dcs and has a caring approach.

Our little dd2 didn't need much sleep (unlike her older sister) which I found hard going sometimes but the book kind of reassured me and I realised that we weren't doing anything too bad by going with the flow and giving her lots of cuddles in our bed etc.

It didn't work for me. DS had a particularly crap eating and sleeping phase at 4mo too - he just grew out of it. He still has short sleeps during the day but sleeps well at night.

he is probably going through a growth spurt at 4 months. he needs the extra milk so it might not be the best time for any sort of sleep training tbh with you

but to answer your question, yes. it did work for us, but we didn't do it until 9 or 10 months

His growth spurt has been going on 5 weeks now

I don't mind feeding him as such, it's the grumpy overtired baby in the day due to crap naps which is as much as a problem.

When he slept great at night he slept lots in the day. He was ill and since then everything went haywire.

He never used to wake before 10/11 at night, now its 9, then 11 and so on....

My lo grew into longer naps at about 5 months-ish. She used to be a chronic 40 minute napper, but now will have a lunchtime nap of about 1.5-2 hours, yay! Hopefully the same will happen for you too. I did read the no cry nap solution which had some very usefull tips in about nap-blending, check if your library has a copy! Good Luck!

Yes, but only when I did it properly - ie made the whole sleep plan, did the logs etc. And eventually the thing that I did which cemented it was not from the book and did involve some crying (but it took me a long time to be comfortable with this).

We had a support thread on here about it at one point...

Thanks - have done 2 days of serious nap-blending and last night he slept til his dreamfeed at 10.15, then 2.30, then 5.45 then 8.15

Thats the best night in a month!

Fingers cossed this continues
