When will she sleep through and is this a growth spurt?

Hello

My dd, who is now 8 wks, has slept well really since coming home from hospital. She's always been in a good routine and goes to bed at approx 6.30pm. I then get her up for a dream feed at 10.30pm, at which she is feeding increasingly well (5-6oz.) From pretty much day one, she has then slept 4hrs until 2.30pm. Then is up again at 6.30 - 7am.

Although I'm grateful for this, as I know I'm lucky with her, I'm getting a bit confused as to why she's not extending this night time stretch - in reality she's going no longer than she was at 3 days old! She's also doesn't seem ravenous during the night - takes about 4oz at a leisurely pace.

She's also getting up earlier and earlier (was 7am, then 6, now nearer 5). Over the last few days she has been up a bit earlier in the night too, (2am) and is more unsettled in the night. Last night she was up for a feed at 2, was then awake at 4 wanting a dummy and was then up at 5.30 wanting a feed

She usually sleeps well during the day too, but over the last few days has seemed to be restless in her sleep and frequently wakes (although for the most part re-settles).

Does all of this sound like a growth spurt? Do growth spurts some how affect general behaviour (thus explaining the restlessness and fidgeting) as well as feeding?

I just feel like we're going backwards and I'm getting fairly weepy about it. Do any of you know how long this is likely to continue if it is indeed a spurt and how long it might be before she starts going a bit longer on a night and if there is anything I can do to help her along?

Appriciate all advice, am shattered, have a 2 year old to care for (who we had none of this with - through the night at 6 weeks!!) a partner who works away so no one to help with night feeds, and no other family support - so no chance of kips during the day.

Feeling fairly low today girls - sort me out!!

Sounds exactly like my experience a few weeks ago. When she was 5 weeks I decided to drop dream feed as dd wasn't waking for it to see how long she would sleep for. She did 6.30pm til 2.30am (then back to sleep til 7) - so I knew she could do long stretch. Did this for couple of weeks and then reintroduced dreamfeed (without waking her) and she did 10.30 til 7.30 I think you need to see if your dd will do a long stretch if left. At a similar age dd also started to be more awake in the day and more restless during naps. She has now dropped dream feed a few days ago and I am having to wake her at 7.30 every morning from going down at 6.30pm! It will get better - hang in there.

Thanks hun. That cheered me up a bit. Interestingly, I tried dropping the dream feed when mine was 5 weeks and for 3 nights she did from 7pm til 3.30 ish, so I too knew she could do it. Then it all went a bit pear shaped and I ended up re-introducing the dreamfeed. Doesn't seem to be doing much good though, so thin I will give your advice a go, see how she does.

Thanks x
