18 wk old waking a million times a night

Help!
my 18wk old has always been a terrible sleeper, even though we co-sleep. It has deteriorated even further over the last two weeks.

We have on occasion done reasonably well (slept over 5 hr stretches three times so we can do it!) However its all gone to pot.

Now my baby will only do about 15 mins naps in the daytime, unless in the sling, and is waking at least every 90 mins at night, only settling with boob (I'm convinced it is mainly non-nutririve suckling or at least only a small amount of milk as I rarely hear proper feeding at night) Naps are all taken either in the sling or by being fed to sleep (which takes ages). I've tried the nipple pull-off thing, but it just wakes her and she won't sleep unless I allow her to keep my nipple in her mouth until she releases it. (I've tried for several hours and it just postpones her sleep more and more until I give in)

I have tried a dummy but it just gets spat out!

HV says to leave her to scream (and she does scream very loudly!)

I sometimes hear gulping / choking noises from my baby and wonder if its reflux perhaps? However she is massive (98th%) and gaining well, although she had green frothy poo and was even more unsettled when I was still having dairy.

We are seeing paed next week wrt dairy intolerance.

Can anyone help? I sometimes feel like phoning the adoption people! (I wouldn't really - she's gorgeous!)

my middle child was exactly like this. he also had dairy and egg intolerance
he was also BIG, presumably because he ate so often because it comforted him when he was uncomfortable? i don't know really

there's good news and bad news
the good news is that he stopped feeding hourly eventually
the bad news is it wasn't til about 10 months when we had more success with no cry sleep solution and managed to introduce a dummy and a comfort blanket

he slept through at 2!

i got through it by going to bed really early, having dp get up with him in the morning so i could have an extra half hour or so, getting friends to come over in the afternoon so i could nap on the sofa...

lol yeh, and only an 18 month gap too. figured i might as well get all the sleepless nights out of the way in one go

when you're in the middle of it it's hideous, but looking back it seems like it was such a short part of his life and I am glad that I followed my instincts and just kept feeding him on demand

there's no harm in keep trying with a dummy and stuff like that tho. in our case he still woke up, but all i had to do was pop a dummy back in rather than actually feed him, and gradually he started doing longer stretches
