18mo screaming at bedtime

DD used to settle relatively quickly but lately she screams for an hour, sometimes two, before settling.

I'm not sure if it is the 18 month sleep regression or just tantrums - she's quite vocal with her "no,no,no" and "more story". I've never yet managed to read enough stories to please her, suspect she just asks for more to postpone going in the cot? She settles to babbling periodically in between screaming, and if we go up to her it seems to make her angrier. If/when we go in she wants to come out of her cot - she'll stop crying if we pick her up but as soon as we put her down starts shouting for more stories and/or screaming again, stamps her feet and throws her blanket and bear out in protest.

Every evening is an endurance test - don't know what to do!!

Also - we moved house recently and a couple of weeks later switched nurseries, and she has also gone from loving going to nursery to tears every day at drop off time, so it may be separation anxiey related but what to do about it??

i can't advise but can sympathise - 18mo dd doing exactly the same thing here, for weeks now... we are working on the basis that it's a horrible conjunction of teething and development and will settle down soon (about four teeth cutting through simultaneously) but in the interim we are just bringing her downstairs for ten mins, reading a story and then putting back in cot with a small drink of milk. this does eventually work but bedtime is taking two hours every evening. leaving her in bed results in her screaming till she's sick (even if you're there saying soothing things to her), and that doesn't do anything for my sanity... fingers crossed somebody wil lturn up with some proper advice

Thanks for the sympathy. It must be a phase, surely, therefore it must pass... just wish it would pass quickly!!
