Baby waking up wet at night... every night...

I'm just wondering whether I'm somehow putting a nappy on wrong - because DS (8 months old) has been waking up miserable in a little puddle most nights lately despite being put in a fresh disposable nappy just before bed (8pm).

Does this happen to anyone else? Or does my baby have a strange ability to wee out of his nappy (often leaving the nappy fairly dry - and honestly I've done it up snugly around his waist and it does fit)? Are there any super-fabulous nappies that prevent this happening?

Tuck his willy downwards and go up a size.

Babygro to keep nappy snug and in place? Or a nappy wrap over the top (mind you if he did still leak it would just protect the bed, not him iykwim)?

Can you tell if the leak is from sides or tops? I feel for you as i'm having similar issues with my DS, but it's more that he's a champion wee-er than a leaky nappy I've resigned to changing him at 2am for now as I just can't find a nappy/booster that works for him.

hmm

arwe they the new pampers?
allegedly they have changed for thje worse recently

WinkyWinkola · 12/07/2010 18:39

Trying Nature Boy and Girl nappies.

Aside from the eco thing, they've never leaked for me as long as you point his willy downwards.

Ds2 also aged 8 mos is in size 4.

Thanks, I may have to try tucking his willy then, poor lad! Although I fear willies don't stay put...
Koeda maybe we have the same issue - the leak seems to be on the back/top/side area if that makes sense?

I have indeed been using the new Pampers - perhaps that's it! Will hunt down the Nature Boy nappies tomorrow...

Contact pampers, complain, you'll most probably get a money off voucher in the post, other than that try lidls own brand cien nappies, sound crap but are excellent hth

Does he sleep on his side, or turn over onto his side at night? Does he lift his legs up in the air a lot? Both these things might send the wee out the waistband or the side of the nappy. My DD has this problem occasionally and it's usually when she's tilted too much to one side or has her legs in the air during a pee...

CuppaTeaJanice · 13/07/2010 11:56

I have this problem with my 2 year old. I've tried every sort of nappy and can't find the solution. I even bought some incontinence pads to use as boosters . He just drinks so much in the evenings.

Pampers are the worst nappies IMO - they seem to get so big and soft. Supermarket brands are better but I still have to change the sheets several times a week.

lolalotta · 13/07/2010 11:59

Tesco's superfit nappies are fab, but I have a dd so no willie to contend with, lol!

jjazz · 13/07/2010 20:17

try a lsrger size disposable on top of usual one- i had the samp priblem a while ago and 2 nappies was the only solution!

Igglybuff · 13/07/2010 20:26

I had this - I had to make sure I was running my finger along the inside of each leg to make sure the elastic and skirt bit was snug.
Also the new active fit pampers are rubbish. I use the baby dry ones and no problems.

Ineedsomesleep · 13/07/2010 20:33

Pointing down phoning Pampers and Lidl's Cien are all good advice but my Niece was like this and in the end they just used to put a reuseable nappy wrap over the top of her disposable. It was the only thing that stopped her leaking.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 13/07/2010 20:49

DS2 had this problem too. He sleeps on his front with his knees tucked up underneath him, and was always wet from leaks coming over the top of the front of the nappy.

We ended up using Huggies and going up a size, then putting a Kotex night time sanitary towel inside (with the bottom layer of plastic peeled off so the wee could get to the nappy). It was a bit of a faff to get the sanitary towel in the right place, but well worth it once we got it right!

Hope you find something that works soon.
