Who's booked for 09/10 and where are you going?

We've already booked for next January. We're going to Puy St Vincent with Snowbizz and I can't wait. We never used to book so early, we'd wait and see what the snow conditions were like but with 2 little ones in tow, things aren't so simple these days!

So where are you all going?

We are going to Sainte Foy at Christmas. with Venture ski. Booked AGES ago as paranoid about getting a good holiday booked well in advance. Have not been with them before but it looks like a good set up and they have impressed me with their attitude

We'll be going at Christmas to our place near to Les Orres, Vars and Puy st Vincent - so maybe see you on the slopes Snowmummy!

I had a day at Puy in March and it was lovely. DS1 is pretty competetent for a 4 year old, but we will probably stick to the smaller places: Reallon, Crevoux, St Leger les Melezes as we're not covering too much ground and teh passes are a lot cheaper!

If I get a day on my own, I'll be off to Montgenevre.

Oh I can't wait!!

We're going to Courchevel at the end of March with PIL and SIL and family. PIL are going to look after and have a go at teaching our then 3.5yr old DS to ski..

ooo, you lot are getting me all over-excited!

Wheelybug · 16/07/2009 17:41

madwoman - well done your dd2. I think the speed would probably effect him visually but tbh we probably wouldn't know until we tried it and its a bit of an expensive 'try'. We'll see how he goes over the winter I think and maybe go late season ( if we're brave enough to take dd1 out of school !).

whispers
hope it works out. you could always get him to close his eyes

Wheelybug · 16/07/2009 19:56

We were in hochgurgl last February and it was COLD. Take your thermals!

Sixer · 12/10/2009 00:52

Montgenevre 4th year running. We love the place. Funny how i'm happy to say this here on MN, yet in RL I won't tell anyone where we go. Please keep it out MN secret.

JeMeSouviens · 12/10/2009 01:49

Should be in Smithers, BC this year, the move from Quebec all going well. Otherwise it'll be Tremblant.

Funnily even though we're only 45mins from our nearest ski field, we only skied ONE lousy day last season. Was most disappointed, but with a toddler, I think that is what stopped us. He's still wee, but we've bought him his gear so will be starting to teach him at first snowfall this year, but we're still finding it hard just to find daycare at Smithers. Anyone been and can you recommend anything?

happywomble · 12/10/2009 07:32

Its our first time at MG Sixer..we're really looking forward to it. Which ski school do you use ESF or the International one?
Do you fly there? We are hoping to go by train but cannot book it yet as the prices aren't yet out.

Reesie · 15/10/2009 20:24

2 weeks in Chamonix in March! Yipeee!

Sixer · 16/10/2009 00:27

Who are you travelling with HW? We have always gone by Ryanair into Turin. I believe Eastjet into Chambery isn't much further. We normally have a Chalet for about 10, so we hire a couple of cars as well, which are handy for popping down to Briancon for that first big shop, food, snacks, booze etc! Also for when DC are knackered beyond belief and can't walk further than their nose!

Sixer · 16/10/2009 00:38

Sorry HW we use ESF. Have done since DC were 2/3. They are very good, have a snow garden, and your child will learn to ski from a very early age. Plus they will test/ certify/give a badge that is recognized throughout the French Alps. Downfall is, it's a small resort, so they may well be the only English speaking children. Personally, we thought this was great, as our DS had Franglaise. Even now our eldest is 8, and the time of year we go, he might have 1/2/3 others in his group that are english speakin. It's not a problem to him. The Instuctors are fab. Especially when your on you 3rd day of skiing and your dc pass you on the slopes with ski school, what a feelin!

Lapsedrunner · 18/10/2009 08:23

Planning to take DS to Austria the week before Christmas (cheap & quiet) , not booked yet.

Lapsedrunner · 18/10/2009 08:23

well....not cheaper, but at least cheaper!
