Les Gets - Any Accommodation Recommendations

We are looking to go to Les Gets at some point after half term. Has anybody got any accommodation recommendations and also is it a family friendly area - suitable for a novice mum?

I went to Morzine (same area in Portes Du Soleil), literlly a gondola ride away. We went in 2006 just before I fell pregnant with DS. I am a novice boarder and I loved it!!!
It is a fabulous place. Only an hour transfer from Geneva. There is so much skiing area it's unbelievable.
It is not too expensive when there, although the Euro wasn't in the state it is now when I went!
I stayed in a lovely lovely catered Chalet with DH and our friends. It was very very child friendly, although there were no children there when we went, in fact we had the chalet to ourselves.
The hosts are a couple from the North of England. They are fabulous. They know the area very very well and they take you in their private people carrier each day to the centre to the lift area and then collect you when you like. They give you their number then you can ring them if you want to come home early!!
They are both wonderful cooks and the food is outstanding. I put on several pounds despite the constant exercise.
Their website is called Morzine 365.com.
I can't recommend it highly enough.
We have not had chance to go back as I was pregnant and now DS is still only 21 mo but next year we will most certainly go.
Take a look at the website and see what you think. Let me know, I will keep watchin the thread.
Don't know what kind of budget you are on, or how old LOs??
It's not the cheapest chalet, but not the most expensive considering the quality.
If they can't accomodate you, I am sure they will suggest an alternative.

That sounds briliant will check their website. We've to Tignes over new year with a 5 year old and 9 year old and I found the skiing quite difficult with the youngest. My husband is quit a good boarder but he found it difficult to guide the 5 year old as she was skiing - or maybe that was just an excuse - so I ended up dealing with a very brave DD which was not good for my nerves.

Ah bless you. Yes very chld friendly area. I think they focus on kids as only an hours transfer from Geneva which in itself is a blessing rather than the 3/4 to get to 3 Valleys. First choice also have nice chalets. Just google Portes Du Soleil see what offers come up. I will watch thread so keep me posted. Am jealous ha x

I think we may have found a good deal - so many things to think about though it's given me a headache. The resort does look lovely.

I'm off to Les Gets on Saturday!! We only booked up this week with Ski Famille and managed to get a catered chalet on special offer, it's worth checking out as they have some good deals on right now (although you have to get your flights separately which is not a bad thing.....no waking up at 3am to get to an airport on the other side of the M25!). The good thing is they provide a nanny who comes to the chalet so no faffing with creches etc, also my 2 DS's are both quite clingy so I like the thought of having the same person looing after them all week. Will let you know how we get on.

hey scattygirl - can we have an update? how's the snow? how were the staff?

Hi, came across this forum when I was also looking for accommodation in Morzine. Decided to look up morzine365.com aka lou bochons and the website looks fabulous but whilst researching it for reviews etc I also fell upon the same property for sale and under offer on this website www.alpineangels.net see this link

www.alpineangels.net/alpine-properties/portes-du-soleil_R1/morzine_L10/ferme-lou-bochons- beautiful-farm_P2938.htm

So, I emailed the owners and they confirmed it was under offer but that they are seeing out the skiing season with hopes to move out before the summer season starts.

Thought you should know about this Plod in case you were thinking of rebooking for next year as it is not going to be the same hosts as before.
Unfortunately they are booked for the week I was hoping to go (22nd March), so if anyone has any suggestions for any other child friendly chalets in Morzine area I would really appreciate it.

We've recently returned from a week with Ski Famille in Les Gets.

Snow - absolutely fantastic, best week of it I've ever had. Last afternoon there were signs of a bit of spring "slush", but otherwise, perfect.

Staff - without fail, every single member of Ski Famille staff we met was excellent. Professional, friendly, relaxed, knowledgable. Nannies were fantastic - I have to say that for us, the in-chalet childcare works much better than the creches.

We've used Esprit twice before, who are good, but for us these guys are (without a shadow of a doubt) better.
It's the first holiday I've come back from and have wanted immediately to rebook for next year to go to the same place with the same company.

Hopefully I'll find time to write a more detailed product review at some point!

Clement, sorry for the late response.

Totally agree with all the comments sandk made. The snow was the best I've ever experienced. We lost out on one day where the lifts closed due to high winds and rain but all other days more than made up for it with fresh snow falling most nights.

I really liked the ski area, I just got the local pass and there were more than enough runs for me, although I must say I didn't ski full days every day but even if @I had I think the runs would've still been enough. The beginner in our group took lessons with ESF and was managing off piste and black runs by the end of the week! The experienced ones got the full area pass and were more than happy with the extent.

We stayed in one of their village centre chalets (one of their cheapest ones) which suited us as it was more relaxed, besides we would never have gotten our 2yo to bed in time for dinner each night in one of the posher ones . Our chalet host was fabulous (Charlie) and didn't seem to mind being pestered by our 2yo who took a real shining to her. Agree that all the staff were great. We even ended up with 2 nannies looking after our 2 DS's as one was a trainee who was just great, making a real effort to distract our DS's who are both very clingy whilst we were trying to get our gear on and get out to the slopes!

It really felt like we'd had a proper holiday too, was blissful not having to cook or clean/tidy up every day and being able to relax eating in the chalet every day rather than the faff and stress of LO's in restaurants.

I would definitely go with them again if they still have more special offers in the future. Let me know if you want more info.
