Hi, Kids all at Uni now, Husband and I haven’t been skiing on our own together before and are looking forward to going more regularly now that we’re not locked in to term times, heavy costs etc. Sooo, looking at going somewhere this month (avoiding half term).
Does anyone have any accommodation gems they have discovered for couples? Self catering or hotel (no shared chalets).
We will be driving as usual so near enough for one stop over max.
We enjoy reds, blues and occasional blacks, alpine trails and cosy slopeside cabins for coffees and lunches.
Prefer ski in ski out or otherwise easy access to gondolas etc. Thankyou!

Kristiana at Lech. Portetta at Courcheval. Avoid school holidays!

It’s Kristiania - apologies! Also Ferme de Montagne, Les Gets - brilliant.

@anneyc "Sooo, looking at going somewhere this month (avoiding half term)."

The entire month of February is half-term somewhere, starting this week (Week 6 in the European calendar) and not finishing until the end of the month. Weeks 7 & 8 are the Scandinavian half-term holidays, UK is Week 8, Netherlands Weeks 8 & 9 and so on. Over on Snowheads there is a useful table showing all European school holiday dates:

If you're not tied to school holidays, the best weeks to ski without the crowds are mid to late January, or early March.

Scandinavian dc are not seen that much in the Alps. Pretty rare.

Keep the budget you'd use for 4 and stay somewhere lovely avoiding school holidays. The adult only Club Meds? The Hermitage in Cervinia? The Hermitage Spa in Andorra? Lake Tahoe or Whistler?
I have an ever growing list of fancy hotels for when we get to that point.

You've clearly never been to Wagrain, Saalbach, Canazai or Zell am See. The Alps are hugely popular with Scandinavian skiers, but they tend to go to Austria and Italy rather than France or Switzerland.

In Week 7 it seems like half of the population of Denmark descends on Saalbach - and most of the rest are seemingly in Wagrain or Zell am See. The same resorts are popular with Norwegians and Swedes in the following weeks when these countries are on holiday.

@OhDear111 These places look amazing! Unfortunately Booked up, but will keep checking.
@Havanananana thanks for that link, never due that existed on snowheads. Really useful.
@turkeyboots thanks for your suggestions. Husband doesn’t fly so needs to be driveable. Will check out Andorra, thankyou 😊
