Recommendations for 3 generation ski holiday

So we are thinking 2027. Outside school holidays. 6 adults who are varying from beginner to confident. The beginner is a snowboarded. The rest are skiers. A 4 year old and a 2 year old. The 4 year old if he can would like to learn skiing.
in the past we have done French Alps mainly but it seems very expensive re passes etc. Love the Dolomites but not sure it’s suitable for boarders.
Any recommendations gratefully accepted.

Don’t write off all the French alps. Granted 3V and espace Killy are v expensive, but check out places like Vars/Risoul, Puy st Vincent and Les Orres. You’ll find your money goes a lot further. What is your budget? Do you want ski in/ski out? Other things to do? Crèche? You mention Italy, and I recently skied in Clavière (just over from Montgenèvre). Fab and to be fair a lot cheaper. 5 cappuccino on the piste (and best coffees ever) were $10.

thanks. Will do some more research. Not sure on budget. Will ask family for rough figures. Will look again at France.

I’d look at US. Vail, Breckenridge. The pistes are amazing. No alcohol on the slips ( had a nasty crash in Austria with a drunk skier). Prices are pretty comparable. Vail pricier than Breckenridge.

There are literally hundreds of places in the Alps that would fit the bill, whether in France, Italy, Austria or Germany. Look at any of the tour operator websites (Nielsen, Crystal, Heidi, Inghams etc.) for an overview of what is available and at what budgets. There's no obligation to book with any of these companies, but you'll get lots of ideas to work with and there are also specialist ski holiday travel agants who can help you put together a holiday.

At the most expensive end of the market are the big famous resorts - Courchevel, anywhere in Switzerland, St Anton/Lech/Zurs, Kitzbuhel etc - but these would probably be wasted on beginners and the children will just be happy to ski anywhere. They won't know if you've paid £50 a day or £500 a day.

At the less expensive, but still acceptable, end of the market there are places like Kranjaska Gora in Slovenia, or Spindleruv Myln in Czech Rep.

Norway and Sweden are great for beginners and kids, can be very cold in January but OK in March. Skiing is more limited for the better skiers and the landscape is not mountainous at all compared with the Alps.

USA andCanada also have some excellent resorts, but not really so good for just a 7 day trip with children once the travel time and jet lag are factored in. Canada and in particular the US have also become very expensive for accommodation, lessons and lift tickets.

Family ski and Ski Famille are great for full childcare options and the kids have an amazing time.

Just a thought, has anyone got recommendations accommodation wise for the Dolomites for this mixed age family group? Preferably with childcare. Thanks!

I’m a boarder who has skiied loads in the Dolomites, never been an issue. We tend to go to small family run hotels as you don’t get many catered chalet setups like in France. We book independently but I think Crystal might do chalets in Canazei which is great for skiing.

South of France, in the Pyrenes. My partner's extended family went there, ages from 10 months old to 58 years old haha. It's cheap and if you go as a big group I think you can get a reduction

Thanks again.
