Has anyone used a French resort creche?

We have booked self catering accommodation in La Rosiere - les Eucharts area in December.

We are planning to book skiing lessons for our children who have only skied once before. They are too young to ski with us in the afternoon so we will have to book them into the creche for a couple of afternoons.

Has anyone used a combination of french ski school and creche on holiday? were your children happy? - would be interested to hear your experiences and any advice on booking the french ski school and creche.

I'm hoping that as we are going in school holidays there will be other English children there although at least if both children are in the creche they will be able to play together.

When we did a chalet holiday, we had a creche in our chalet (chalet slept about 10). The creche nannies were both English. My DS and friend's DS were too young for ski lessons, but the normal job of the nanies was to take them if appropriate.

Take their vaccination records, they like to check them and have been knwon to refuse if not produced. La Rosiere is an Esprit stronghold with their own childcare so there may not be many other English speakers in the resort creche.

Hi, I've done this in Argentiere and dd had a good time. She had a friend with her as well. There were other English kids there, infact I think most of them were English. The staff all spoke English.

I have a feeling - although this may be completely wrong - that one of the ski schools has a creche too, or at least activities for children who are old enough to ski for part of the day.

The big independent ski school in La Ros is evoultion who are fantastic. DH and I had some private top up lessons this year and it turned my skiing around (had been fairly nervous previously and quaked ona red run but our instructor got me skiing a black confidently by the end of the week). They also taught my beginner OAP parents and were brilliant with them. I think they have something else for children other than skiing but its not entirely clear from the website (evo2 club maybe ?) but if you call them and speak to them they would advise and might be able to recommend a creche. I would certainly encourage booking lessons with them though.

Thank you all for the great advice. Thank you Liz for mentioning the vaccination certificates..we mustn't forget those.
Wheelybug - sounds as though I need to book myself in for Evolution 2 lessons! I have skied many times but always go to pieces if I see a mogul field or really difficult slope!
I think you are right that Evolution 2 offer ski school plus some other activities for the children...as you say the website isn't that clear so maybe I will email them to find out more about their service. Your parents were so brave to learn as OAPs!

This year we booked our 3 year old into a non English speaking creche in a small resort called Prapoutel (Les Sept Laux) when we went to visit friends who live in Grenoble. We were very nervous but she was fine and she was more than happy to go back again a few days later (we booked her in from 0900-1400 hrs and left her with her snacks and lunch). I took her red book with us but they didn't ask to see it.
