Ski goggles for school trip

Hello

My year 9 child is going on a school trip skiing in February.

I have no idea about goggles.
I'm looking on (and happy to buy from) vinted and they are anything and everything between £1 and £100.

I literally have no idea.... are any better or worse than others? Any of the cheaper brands "good enough" or are there any I should avoid.

This are likely to be used just for just 2 holidays (as hopefully her younger sibling could wear the same ones the next year when it's her turn)

Basically please you can advise on a brand (or brands) of googles, which if in VGC on vinted will be good enough.

Also I assume they will need adult size goggles? Are sizes important? Do they even do teenage sizes?

Thanks in advance for help.

These will be a Xmas present

(Due to a nasty injury when I was a child I can't ski, so we will NEVER go skiing as a family, this is DDs only chance (until she's an adult and can take and pay for herself))

We got my son's when he was in year 9 from interski website, we bought the bundle but the ski googles were really good: Dirty Dog ski goggles were the brand. Not sure sizes as there wasn't an option but was adjustable and fitted to what he needed over his helmet :)

Can you get to a decathlon? Their goggles are fine. Be good if your DC can try them on. Probably a small would do, but I’m always nervous about sizing. You’ll want all purpose (not v dark or v clear) lenses as the weather will vary (sunny / cloudy). I’ve been skiing years… she should also have decent sunglasses that she can wear on sunny days instead of goggles.

All ski goggles are required to meet certain standards (as are sunglasses) so your first option should be Decathlon. Look at the Decathlon website - their own-brand Wedze goggles are fine, as are the other brands such as Bolle at around £40-£50.

Also check out Aldi and Lidl, which both have special "ski" weeks around now and where you can pick up perfectly fine goggles, as well as ski underwear and even jackets and trousers, for reasonable money. There is no need to spend £100 on brand-name goggles for one week of skiing. The chances are she might not even get to wear them (but she should always wear either sunglasses or goggles when skiing to protect from UV light damaging her eyes).

Decathlon. They need to fit or it defeats the object.

Basic decathlon were fine for skiing, though not wide enough field of view for snowboarding. If they're boarding then look for something where the lens runs round to the side of the goggles, so you can look well round to the left and right, not just the middle.

I would also say Decathlon’s own brand goggles are good - Wedze is the name they go under. Or Aldi - I’ve just checked and their special buys ski week is from 20 November, ie next week.

Lidl have their ski specials this coming week

For a teen I would get adult not kids size. You want to look for lenses that are red, blue or green since they cover the widest range of light conditions because it can range from blazing sun on a clear day to very low light on a snowy day. Serious skiers usually have 2 pairs but that’s excessive for a first timer on a school trip! My kids have Giro and Bolle goggles which are decent mid range brands that won’t cost a lot but I don’t think it matters much as they’ll all have UV protection. Vinted is fine if they’re definitely not scratched. Decathlon is also good with the added benefit that he can try on there, just have him try on a helmet at the same time too if you want to be confident of fit.

Tk maxx or decathlon are good bets. Aldi also fine.

This.

Don't overthink it.

If she wears glasses, look for “OTG” fit (over the glasses).

Lidl have some in for £6.49 this weekend, they had blue or yellow lenses
