Group ski holiday for a mum and daughter

I’m looking to take my DD 6 skiing for the first time and need an affordable way to do this on my own. DH not interested in coming and although we have friends who ski they want to go alone or already have groups. I think i’d probably like to go with a tour operator where we can join a group so she can make friends in lessons and maybe I can join a group for intermediate level skiing whilst she is having lessons. Any recommendations for companies or resorts? Thanks!

Club med are all inclusive with lessons as part of the price. Not cheap though.

Crystal, Mark Warner or Inghams in a chalet. I see Heidi mentioned on other threads too,

Chalet holidays are getting harder to find and are getting expensive, but book a hotel with Crystal, Inghams, Nielsen, MW or Heidi and choose a family-friendly resort and there should be plenty of people for you both to interact with. DD goes into kids' ski school with her peers and you can do join an intermediate group at ski school for the week or see if there are others in the hotel who you can ski with.

Where to go? Obviously you don't need nightlife or huge amounts of off-piste skiing. Look at Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Rauris, Flachau, Leogang, Wagrain in Austria. Kronplatz in Italy. La Rosiere in France. For less expensive options perhaps Kranjska Gora in Slovenia, or Andorra. Kinderhotels in Austria are very popular too, but come at a price.

Crystal. Assuming you are beginners I’d go with the Andorran resorts

Choose a chalet of say 12-20. And there should be a good mix in there. Went with my dad and sibling as a kid and we made friends with others in our accommodation

I have done this with my young DS twice now. Both times he made friends in his ski class and I teamed up with some other parents for afternoon ski-ing on one trip. It’s definitely do-able as the people you meet tend to be friendly and like minded on this type of holiday. I would recommend a small resort for first trip. Be prepared for spending half of your ski-time supporting your DC with carrying equipment, searching for lost poles, fetching water etc.!
