Booking for Feb. 2026

Went skiing over the Feb. half term this year in Austria and would like to go again next year, but in a different location. We honestly booked rather late (October) and went off a friend’s recommendation and the hotel was lovely, would just prefer a ski resort a little more beginner friendly (we were in the Zillertal Arena area). As I’m searching resorts for next year, I’m finding a lot of family rooms at hotels already booked up for the week we can go, or in a few cases, not yet open for booking. Did we just get really lucky last year making a reservation in October? There is no way my kids will share a sofa bed, lol!

Looking at Seefeld, Soelden, Obergergl, any other good areas with easier beginner slopes? Specific hotel recs would be welcome too!

Not sure I can help specifically, but a hopeful bump. DH and I used to ski annually pre-covid. No kids. We often got better deals very last minute. I've never skied Austria (DH has), but I hate getting buses to the slops and much prefer a ski in-ski out option. The ski club site is very handy. You can search by resort or filter by requirements- beginners etc to help narrow down resorts. You don't need to sign into the site.

I always love Italy due to the food and friendliness. Hotel Du Col in Sestriere was the best in terms of being incredibly close to the slopes, in particular a beginners slope. You put your skis on in the hotels basement, ski across a track at the back of the hotel and you are on slope! The food was fantastic too. All you could eat buffet in the evenings and wine for adults. A bar within the hotel with happy hour and free cake/coffee in the afternoons. They also have family rooms. Sestriere is listed at 24% beginner slopes, whereas Obergurgl is 32%. Depending on your abilities, you can get a gondola across the Sauze d'Oulx and to the rest of the Milky Way ski area.
