Borovets with toddler?

We have an opportunity to stay in Borovets for a week in February for a great price, but I'm unsure what it would be like there for a 20 month old. He will be mainly just playing in the snow but does have a snowboard and gear that he can have a play on, too.

Seems like the kids ski zone is only for ages 4 and up, which is really putting me off. He's too young for lessons but it would be great to have a safe, suitable beginner area with a magic carpet to use without having lessons. Anyone been to Borovets with young kids and can tell me more, please? (We're not planning to use a crèche or childcare service but open to the possibility perhaps a couple of times, we would mainly be all together or taking it in turns to look after our little one - it's just going to be a different type of snow holiday to the ones we are used to!). Thankyou!

I've never been to Borovets but when we were in Italy at new year I saw the tiniest snowboarder ever. He can't have been much more than 18 months and his boots were up to his knees. His mum had him on a leash and would pull him up a little incline and then let him go and his dad would catch him. He had an amazing stance. Sorry, off topic but was one of the cutest things I've ever seen and had all us mums of teens ahhhing.

My two were on baby skis from age 2 and had lots of fun just playing.

Ah Thankyou, and that's exactly what I want to be able to do with him, somewhere with a gentle slope that's not too busy that we can just play around. I know it's just the cutest and can't wait to share my favourite hobby with my little boy. He will probably hate it and scream throughout but hey have to start somewhere Grin He's got some snowboard boots in the smallest size I could find in a 6 so we're all ready to go - hope we can get something booked soon.

We've been pulling him around the living room on his snowboard for 6 months so hoping he's starting to get the idea of what it's all about! Fortunately he loves being outside so hoping it all goes ok.

Hello, we went to Borovets in February couple of years ago for skiing. We didn't have any children with us, but saw plenty around.

I was an absolute beginner myself at the time, my first time in a pair of skis, so I was only looking for bunny slopes to practice on and there were only two. I didn't go up to the top of the green because I'd made so little progress on the bunny slopes from having to stop/start/swerve to avoid people that I didn't feel comfortable, so it may be better further up. Because there were only two bunny slopes, they were horrendously busy all of the time. The only lifts by them were button lifts, no magic carpets.

There were plenty of parents placing toddlers between their knees and skiing along, but the volume of people meant you didn't get to go very far before needing to stop/swerve.

I don't know what it's like skiing with youngsters, but hopefully that's somewhat helpful!

I haven't been to Borovets but have been to Bansko. It was awful and quite frankly dangerous. There were too many people and no control at all.

Thankyou @KittyFantastica and @boulevardofbrokendreamss, that's really good to know. Definitely don't want to feel unsafe and snowboarders and generally not best friends with button lifts, either!
