Snowboarders please advise- Whistler Blackcomb

Hi - we are considering Whistler for Christmas- DH, DD and I ski. DS (15) is a boarder. How is Whistler for boarders? - the thing I'm worried about is that I (or rather my glutes) seem to remember quite a few long flattish traverses which would suck for boarders, but I'm possibly making this into too big a deal and they're either not that bad, or avoidable.

Just wondered if there are any boarders on here who have been and can advise how they found it, especially if boarding alongside skiers. For context, DS is pretty good- boards off piste competently and pistes are all totally fine, but he's not jumping off massive ledges and doing aerial 360s or anything like that!

Have you tried asking on snowheads? There are bound to be loads of people on there that know literally everything about every resort! I've found snowheads invaluable in the past!

I’m not a boarder but I do remember quite a few long greens/cat tracks to get places that might be annoying on a board, so my impression is similar to yours. Definitely ask on snowheads!

My partner (boarder) went 25 years ago and loved it, would go back like a shot if we had the spends. His friend who is an excellent snowboarder recently went back, got to the top of spankys ladder, took one look and went and put his skis on 😆
I think there’s plenty to do for all, but I know ski passes are horrifically expensive now.

I’ve been to Whistler twice in the last two years staying near the bottom of the ski lift. I don’t ski but noticed that there were more people queuing for the lift with boards than skis so I would think it’s good. I was more excited by seeing bears 😁

Thanks all- will try Snowheads. Hear you on the passes- this would likely be our last “big ski trip” as a family before we get into GCSE and A level hell years which will make a 2 week tricky so prepared to splurge a little. Just want to make sure we choose the right resort for everyone. I’m drawn to whistler as it’s what I know ( and love) but possibly there are better options!

I've been to Whistler many times and spent 4 weeks there in 2022. I don't recall many totally flat cat tracks - one to get from Harmony to Symphony lift (or the other way around - can't recall). But there are a fair few trails where you need to have enough speed, so depends how confident you are. The dotted line trails on the piste map are cat tracks and likely to be narrow, so those are the ones to avoid. But there's so much terrain you won't need to worry!

I would also expect significant lift lines at base areas and key lifts especially on weekends. So make sure to get up early!
