Ideas for a (first) family Easter ski trip?

Hello 👋 hoping for some helpful knowledge here.
Thinking of an Easter holiday ski trip - second week in April - so would need to be high up.
We’re a family of four, two adults, two kids under 11, and while I ski and would like a decent area to explore, DH and the kids are beginners and would be having ski lessons.
There’s no point in paying the big bucks for a lift pass for a massive ski area as we won’t all use it.
I’d prefer to self cater as we’re all veggie and it’s nearly impossible to eat well even half board.
Any recommendations for a location that would suit all of us and not break the bank?! I’m hoping to pay no more than £5k including ski school, passes, equipment hire….and don’t mind booking separately for all of those to save ££!
Would prefer to fly, not drive.

all ideas welcome!

There are some options here https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/ski-snowboarding/5250692-easter-2026-skiing-for-beginners

Vals Thorens has an easy rider pass that gives you half price ski pass to a few lifts with easy runs off them.

Tignes and Val D have free ski pass for under 8s. You can get a single area pass ie just tignes or just val d. Tignes not great for beginners tbh. Val D is more accessible and is prettier. But even more expensive than Tignes. La Plagne/Les Arcs good for Easter. Although La Plagne is so spread out (multiple villages) that it's all a bit of a faff.

Scandinavia could be an option? You won't get the huge expanse of runs that you would in the big French resorts but doesn't sound like you'd need that. I think it might be a bit cheaper and, apparently, pretty snow sure at Easter.

Tignes Le Lac - lots of green runs as well as blue and above.

There is a relatively new centre parcs in the German alps. You have the fun option of being there and can then go skiing when you like. It was great as I didn’t know if the kids would love skiing so we had that to fall back on.

We’ve just been to Tignes Val Claret and had several beginners in our party - not a great location for them to be honest, Le Lac would be a better base but not as good as our first family trip with both adult and child learners, which was to Val Cenis. So that’s my recommendation!
