Chalet over Xmas

Hi all, hoping all you lovely people can help us, we want to do a family holiday over Xmas 2025. I think a chalet is probably the best option but have never done this before as always done TUI type ski package holidays.

There will be a few non skiers who are going to be looking after kids but they also would like to do some spa days etc.

Can anyone advice on possible resorts or if you have any other suggestions we are open to them.

Looking at min 8 adults plus 4 young kids (two will join some skiing but not all day)

Thank you!

I would recommend looking at ski famille.

They would sort out everything for you. Some chalets have hot tubs. Some have cinema rooms.

There are travel agencies who specialise in just this sort of thing - e.g. Alpine Elements, Alpine Answers, Chalets Direct and many others. Google is your friend (as well as Snowheads.com)

One thing you need to consider is do you want a chalet to yourselves, or do you want to share with others? We had many Christmas holidays in shared, catered chalets where there were other families with children and we loved it - we even ended up spending three years in a row in the same chalet with many of the same families.

We went with Ski World last Christmas and were very impressed. We didn’t have young kids to factor in though. You could look at companies like Family Ski Company but they tend to focus on making skiing with kids easier and there might not be a lot going for the non skiers.

Reach4thealps look really good. Not been but I've heard they are good. Also they are based around morzine which is a proper town rather than a ski resort so more to do for non-skiers.

So go catered, and look at France, meribel the most family friendly and mixed group ski resort, you can drive, snow train or fly.

Then google "Zell am see" if you fancy Austria, they are both perfect for mixed groups. I'd say Zell is better as the towns beautiful and lots to do for any non skiers, there is also a beautiful huge spa/ leisure centre in kaprun which is a bus ride from Zell.

You'd have to book quickly is really popular, oh and they have private British ski schools always great.
