Easter April 2025 - France?

Hello

I’m after tips please for Easter given it’s going to be really late season for 2025 April, we can fly out from 3 April ish and would ideally go for France.

Snowboarding adults and primary aged skiing kids

I’ve only ever been December and January so April makes me nervous, but it’s the only time we can go this winter so going to risk it and hope for ok snow.

I know we could head to Val Thorens, Tignes etc but why are peoples experiences? I prefer idea of Les Arcs but not sure how big a risk that is??

Thanks!

If you’re going for 3 April, that’s not too late (we are going to Val d’Isere for 6 April). Les Arcs will probably be ok but I’d expect it to be slushy at Arc 1800 and very slushy at Arc 1600. Id be wanting to stay in Arc 1900 or 2000.

We regularly ski the first week of the Easter holidays and never had a problem, but be prepared for the slush by mid afternoon. If your stamina can take it, I’d ski through lunch and stop for the day with a very late lunch. But I appreciate that may not work with primary aged children. However it’s my favourite time for school holiday skiing, much quieter than the other school holiday periods.

FWIW Easter was very late in 2011and it was a warm spring (we got the train to Bourg St Maurice and there were people sunbathing in their gardens by the train line!) but there was plenty of snow in Tignes.

Tignes or Val Thorens as they are the most snow-sure. Personally prefer Tignes. Kids lessons - if needed - with Evolution 2. We've done many Easters in first couple of weeks of April in Tignes and, although the snow will be soft on warm afternoons at resort level, there is plenty of high skiing.

My only experience of Easter skiing at Les Arcs was some years ago and I've never been so wet skiing in my life. Put me off there somewhat, although it has a huge amount of skiing and is great in good weather - think that's less guaranteed at Easter now than 20 years ago, so my advice when going late is to always go as high as you can.

Thanks everyone really appreciate your views, think il watch the prices for the more snow sure resorts for a bit - I like the idea for skiing through lunch, was also wondering about stretching it to few extra days rather than 7 nights so that if is bit sketchy some afternoons we won’t feel short changed, thanks

Cervinia is also an option, Italy, but easy to get to and good skiing into Zermatt
