Go as high as you can.

Val Thorens is my favourite place or Les Arcs, both France. French Alps are expensive. Italy is cheaper but not as snow sure.

If you are looking for cheap and cheerful, Sunweb have good deals with almost everything included. It is at the lower end of the market but we have been lucky with accommodation. Sunweb - Ski holidays

USA is very expensive! Not only the long haul flight but lift tickets are so much more and resorts typically have a monopoly on rentals and lessons so they’re really expensive to the point where I found it cheaper to buy skis and boots even for a young child that might only use them once before outgrowing. I’d look at Val d’Isere or Tignes. Maybe see if the Club Meds there have any last minute deals? Everything is included so it makes it easy and keeps a handle on expenses.

We are going north this year, Finnish Lapland. Snow will be good, but hotels and lift passes seem more expensive. And the slopes less challenging, which may be a positive.

If you can “ski a bit” I’d save a transatlantic trip until you’ve improved a bit. North America comes into its own once you can move off the groomers, but otherwise it’s a long old way to go for green runs! If you don’t fancy Tignes look at Val Thorens or higher up in Les Arcs perhaps

Pila still seems to have great snow, but they are closing 07/04 this year to allow construction work on new lifts to proceed.

I wouldn’t go to the US as a beginner as I don’t think it would be worth it.

that being said my favourite place is Copper in Colorado and Beaver Creek. Both very very expensive.

This year or next? I’d say last minute deal to wherever. If next year, think drive/self cater. Don’t get hung up on big names (you don’t need 600km piste as a beginner). Loads of good places…Risoul, Les Orres, Puy St Vincent would get my vote (and I ski there most Easters).

We skied stubai a few years ago 3rd week in April and it was great. Fly to Munich, train to innsbruck from airport and hotel organised a 30min taxi.

Just booked it, they are going to Tignes and it was roughly half price, £699 per person, all catered and flights and transfers included, that was with Ski Solutions. Plenty of snow apparently

Fantastic! They’ll have a ball. Loads of new snow at the moment.

InTheRainOnATrain · 27/03/2024 18:38

Amazing! Have a great time!

Orangesandlemons77 · 27/03/2024 19:21

Thanks! I'm not actually going, I don't like it or heights! It's my husband and two teens - I hope they will have a good time, and I will have a week free

Great deal! May I ask where in Tignes and is it a catered chalet? Thanks!
