Alpe D'Huez late December/Novice?

Hello,
Just want to get some ideas/consensus on this.
Looking to do this next December, probably the week after Christmas. Are snow conditions decent that time generally? DH thinks Alpe D'Huez might be suitable and have lots of green runs close to the village. We have been to Tignes before and it wasn't too accessible for me. DD and DH are intermediate level.
Any other suggestions?
Thank you!

Alpe D'Huez has some fantastic options for beginners - and it's a lovely resort.

Snow, based on the conditions this year is anyone's guess! But it's relatively high, so good chance of reasonable conditions.

It’s pretty high altitude so should be a good bet for snow! There’s greens a plenty into resort so very decent for beginners. It’s good for advanced skiers too but maybe not ideal for intermediates as huge areas of the mountain are only served by reds and blacks. Presuming your DH has seen the piste map and would be ok with that though??

Thanks for the messages!

Yes he was browsing through the various resort maps. I haven't skied for quite a while and there were literally only 2 green runs in Tignes Le Lac. I tried the blue runs originally and they were quite steep in many places. I thought I could do them and was told there was quite a large number of blue available before we went. Alas, it didn't turn out well. I think I need more lessons!

It looks like Alpe D'Huez has ski-in ski-out accommodation and there are 2 lift systems within the village, and yes DH and DD can go and do their reds.

It’s great, but what about a slightly smaller resort given what you say? Somewhere with predominantly blues/greens and some reds/easy blacks, and a total of c100km? Lots fall into that bracket…. Les Orres, Puy St Vincent to name 2. I ski there most Christmas and snow is reliable.

I went mid January for my first time skiing there, it was a great resort for a beginner. Conditions were fine.

Don't focus too much on the number of green runs though, you will need them for a few days but you should progress to blue runs by the end of the week. A wide cruisey blue is very beginner friendly and lots of resorts have them.

Thanks for both of your replies. And @Radiatorvalves, I note your suggestions. I guess DH is kinda only aware of those well known resorts. I will suggests the two names you mention. Cheers!

Have fun wherever you go! I’m a terrible ski bore and while I’ve skied in the 3V and big names, I love the variety of smaller places (which tend to be cheaper and can be more characterful).
