Val d'Isère restaurant recommendations- good for kids

Going to Val d'Isère between Xmas and NY for the first time and need great restaurant recommendations for a family with a fussy 7 year old (think beige) and not fussy 13 year old. Something parents will also enjoy too!

Thank you!

They don't like fussy eaters

Thanks for that...

It's been while since I've taken my kids to Val, but from memory:-

La Source - they have downtairs kids play area which maybe suitable for your 7 year old, they have a kids menu.

Roxy - American diner at the back of the shop - lot's of beige

Fondue Factory has a kids menu

There's a pizza place (sorry can't remember the name) near Rond Point des Pistes just up from Cocorico. You can walk over the piste or get the bus under the tunnel to get there.

Petite Danois - basic freezer to fryer food, but go early as it's a bit grungy and an apres bar so can get loud, turn left as you walk in and there is a small 'restaurant' type area to get away from the bar

Most places are good for kids menus, if yours will have pasta bolognaise, steak hache with chips or a pizza you’re fine anywhere! The issue is more that the restaurants can be quite pricey (60 euro lasagna at Gigi’s anyone?!).

Love the Folie Deuce for atmosphere, my kids think it’s the best place ever! Go early before the real party kicks off if you want the self serve. If ski school timings dictate it has to be later then book for their restaurants, either Cucucina (Italian) or the Fruitere (French but they do a really good burger for fussier ones!).

At the bottom of the Pistes L’Etincelle is reasonable (for Val) and good food, safe kids options. Solstice at the Yule has a great terrace, food is good and varied (pasta, pizza chips options for kids) and there’s usually a guy that makes balloon animals for tips! Lulu in the Airelles hotel is really nice, again great terrace, Italian-ish food. The Grande Ourse is part of the same hotel, more traditional and a bit cheaper, stuff like tartiflette for adults and kids can definitely get a steak hache frites.

For dinners, we don’t do that many of, but we like out the Rotisserie restaurant at the Balme de L’Ours hotel. Nice food, standard kids menu stuff and an amazing desert buffet! Fondue factory I haven’t been to in years but I remember it being good. Petit Danois is really good fun but it’s also grim AF, I wouldn’t take my kids in there.

Oh and the Salon de Fous Creperie in the village is really nice!

Amazing 🤩 thank you!

We’re staying at Balme de L’ours, so good to know the restaurant is nice!

You will find suitable places all over the resort. There are usually beige children’s meals and pizza along side nicer food for those that want it.

Seriously, they know their market, and your family is it.

I’ve stayed there, it’s amazing and you will love it! They also have a little room off the rotisserie restaurant where they do fondues and raclette, they say it’s a separate restaurant but it isn’t really and you can still get your mits on the desert buffet and the kids menu. There’s also a Michelin starred restaurant which is lovely but probably not to the 7YO’s tastes.

Oh and 1 more- The Peau Vache does stunning burgers is a candlelit shack but you have to ski there, and it’s across the Face piste so whilst it’s not a hard ski, probably one for the end of the week if you have any beginners.

And Gigi’s, home of the world’s most expensive lasagna, is good with amazing views if you can stomach the prices! I know the Barme isn’t cheap so maybe you could work it in to the itinerary. They don’t do chips though and my 6YO isn’t the biggest pasta fan so was not impressed to be offered polenta 🤣

ENJOY!
