Holiday ideas for a non skiing parent of a skiing 16 year old ?

My daughter would love to go skiing again but she's only ever gone with the school and now she's at college, that avenue is closed. I don't ski.

She's probably just a bit young to go off on an 18-30 type piss up shagfest so unless there is something which works around her going with similar aged teenagers, then it will need to be me along for the spa and bar and her for the skiing and hot chocolate (and booze in moderation).

She's done 5 or 6 weeks on snow over various years and probably still needs a good school but with perhaps some freedom or geared up for late teenagers.

Easter holidays or half term are the only options. Europe probably and she likes Austria best (at the moment) but everywhere considered. She speaks more French - just and I speak forgotten German O level.

When I was pregnant with DC3 and wouldn't ski, we went to Leukerbad, so DH and the kids would sit the slopes, and I had a blast with all the natural hot springs. Food however is pretty crap and expensive. You can't beat Italy for great food on slopes.
Ortisei has plenty to do for a non-skiing adult and loads after ski stuff for teenagers. The Cavallino Bianco hotel is on the expensive side, but gorgeous.

Have you thought of leaning to ski yourself ? I did not learn until I was 40. If you can afford it get a private ski instructor. If you decided to do this make sure you get fit before you go ( leg exercises) . I have skied ever year now for the last 22 years it been one of the best things I did. I would go to Pila in Italy it’s a small resort that’s very good to learn in. Your daughter could go to a group ski lessons and you could get one to one lessons. You would be able to meet a lunch time.

Yours is such a frequent dilemma that there are tons of articles like this online! https://www.sno.co.uk/ski-resort/best-ski-resorts-for-non-skiers/

I've been to Chamonix and Avoriaz as a non-skier. I liked the Chamonix holiday most, but that could also have something to do with the fact that I was staying in a very fabulous hosted chalet (was with a bunch of rich ski buffs). I did some of the walks, went up ALL the ski lifts to loaf about in mountain cafés, and generally loitered.

I agree with taking some lessons, if you're physically able. I've had both skiing and boarding lessons - and discovered I hate 'sliding' sports, falling over, and getting snow down my neck! You may find a hidden talent, though.

Sorry doesn't answer your location question. You may need to look for a holiday based on where your DD will find other teens to ski with. Usually that age group who have already been skiing for 5+ years will not be in ski school.
What about a more organised holiday like Club Med?

I would ring independent chalet companies and ask them for chalets with availability but which also have 15+ age in them. Le Ski, Ski Beat, Olympic, Alpine Elements, Ski World, YSE etc. Then if you really don't want to consider learning yourself (don't rule this out you can start at any age) I would ask the companies for recommendations re resort for non-skier... Courchevel 1650, Val d'Isere, Tignes all have chalet companies, good transport, good size resort and great apres ski bars for you both.

Have a look at PGL for parent free skiing. I went with a friend at that age to Austria.

@likethislikethat the 19th piste is always a good place to start!

Sadly skiing for 17 year olds on their own doesn't exist as I was looking for DS.
Ski weekenders may work for you both. It's a small company does various lengths of trips with a short transfer from Geneva airport. The chalet people are very nice, but its not luxurious.

Have a look at Camp Suisse. Unaccompanied ski trips from the UK in Switzerland. My DD went at 14 and 15 and had a blast.

If the budget allows how about Club Med? Your dd can join an appropriate ability ski group. You could too if you fancy but otherwise you can just enjoy the facilities, food and drink.
