European resorts with train transfer/baby

Hi All, I'm looking for a European family friendly ski resort (we have a 1 year old) where the transfer from the airport is by train rather than coach/car? Also looking for something not ridiculously pricy and where we can either get a hotel that do evening meals or which has family friendly restaurants. Partner and I are both experienced skiers so we need a good ski area too. Not sure we want childcare, might just take it in turns to ski but would consider. Any recommendations appreciated! Thanks!

There are lots of train transfer options in Switzerland, but it is just quite expensive there in general (e.g. £25 for a bog standard pizza)

Sauze d’Oulx is reachable by train from Turin airport, and links to the large Milky Way area, but snowfall there can be erratic.

In Austria St Anton and Kitzbuhel are reachable by train, but I haven't been to either so can't comment on what they are like.

Engelberg, about 2 hours train journey from Zurich airport. Amazing skiing on mainly red and black runs. Might not tick the cheap box but we’ve not found it more expensive than UK is at the moment.

Thank you both, we have been to a couple of Swiss resorts pre our baby girl but don't think the eating out options are great for families and as you say, £25/30 for one pizza!

If I were you OP I'd start looking at options in Austria. There are lots of nice family hotels with large suites. You get much more space for your money than in France. Food is reasonably priced (by ski resort standards). I can recommend a hotel in Saalbach if you'd consider a coach / taxi transfer! Saalbach has a good selection of challenging reds and blacks, and very fast lifts which really rack up the vertical. Speaking from experience, the most important things if you are tag teaming skiing and childcare are: 1) quick access to the lifts, 2) fast lifts with few queues. Otherwise it can be rather frustrating.

We stayed at Carpe Solem in Rauris over Christmas, which is a fabulous aparthotel, and Rauris is a lovely little town with reasonably priced restaurants. There's a nice restaurant actually in the hotel too.

An easy direct train from Salzburg (with a bus or taxi from the airport to Salzburg Train station. The resort of Rauris might be too small for you (one black, a handful of reds).
The advantage to Rauris being smaller, however, is you could comfortably do half days skiing, meeting for lunch together, and then swapping to ski or look after baby.

Alternatively, Zell Am See is just down the road, is accessible by the same train from Salzburg, and is a much bigger ski area, but I can't advise on accommodation.

Use to take mine to Scotland as little ones, we drove but there's a station and public bus. Ofsted registered childcare available. Not the same as a European large resort but worked better for us, cheaper options available (unfortunately the hotel we used has gone downhill but other available) no health insurance needed, easy to take extra stuff if driving.

Scotland isn't easy skiing because it's narrow, rocky and windy.

We went to St Anton with Esprit when our two were little. There was a coach transfer but DH took the train for a day out one day when he wasn't feeling well enough to ski.

Thank you all, I'll explore these options!

Zell am See, Kitzbuhel, Leogang, Fieberbrunn are all easy to reach by train from Salzburg (taxi or bus into the central station) within about 90 minutes - and Saalbach-Hinterglemm is an excellent resort that is a 15 minute taxi ride from Zell am See (and is a better resort all-round than Zell). Saalbach also has a family ticket which allows adults to share one ticket, so one person can ski while the other is on childcare duty. These resorts are also easily reached by train from Munich, although the journey is longer (3 hours +) and involve a change of train at Munich Ost (and possibly one more change depending on the resort).

St Anton has a station too, but is not particularly close to any of the airports, id not a particularly family-friendly resort and you'll be paying an awfully large amount of money for accommodation and for the lift ticket which you might not get the full benefit from.

Hello. This is not 100% linked to initial post but I’m after some help. I’ve asked the same question in ankther thread in hope of attempting to quieten my severe anxiety down!
My family and I are travelling from Paris to Madrid on the high speed trains (with a change in Barcelona.)
does anyone know if either of these trains are those tilting type trains?
I’ve had responses on ankther thread that suggest not, but just posting here for further clarification. Thank you
