Ok do we really need to wear slippers in the esprit chalet?!

In excitement was checking website for esprit today and it seems to say for chalet we must bring slippers to wear. Does this mean in our rooms, down to meals, that we can't wear shoes in chalet? DH does not own slippers and never has while I have known him (and seems to see it as a plot to de-man him!) Can this really be true?

yes, it means you can't wear shoes in the chalet. They'll be wet and snowy so you leave them on the doormat.

take slipper socks, or just wear socks round the chalet.

I suppose so but have never seen anyone do so. Unless things that ae as near as dammit slippers (felt clogs, birkies etc) count

what do you wear at home round the house?

Like mrs badger says, it's just to keep teh floors dry so they aren't slippy with snow etc dragged in from outdoors. If you want a quiet week take proper M&S slippers so he feels unmanly - if you want a more active week you can take ... um, can't think of anything sexy really. What is the male version of high-heeled malibou-trimmed mules???

I wore Birkies rather than slippers - no problem. DD wore slippers most of the time or just socks. Though she did cut her foot open badly when in bare feet in chalet and I don't know what on, suddenly noticed she had a puddle of blood round her foot!

why would you want to wear shoes indoors? It's unhygenic, and uncomfortable!

It really means no outdoor shoes ie you leave snowboots etc downstairs.

Thanks folks, guess hes better off in something manly (not too sexy as we are sharing room with DS and skiing usually takes priority for me anyway! - especially after the make-up incident at the weekend - he needs to be punished!

Smaller chalets tend to just have socks around the place, they simply expect you not to wear outdoor shoes.

I wore crocs a lot.

However we were in a chalet hotel and everyone wore shoes in communial areas

Off to kaprun renaldo - did you have a good time? Am praying the childcare and food are good (I think I have these in the right order but am not sure.....)DH is a big eater, unlike DS!wHERE DID YOU GET THE FURRY BOOTS - see my ski jacket thread - don't feel justified in any more spending!

I wore down slippers. Lovely! Didn't want to wear shoes after having my feet encased in downhill boots all day.

Childcare and food both good except for breakfast and the babysitting 16 euros per hour is a rip off. vey lavish with the free wine though...
