Backpack - yes or no

How much of a pain is skiing with a backpack/Camelbak? DH usually boards with it but am going solo this time.

Need water, probs layers, hat for lunch, sun cream. And if you don’t take a backpack, where does all the stuff go??

Ok so I took a small Camelbak bag in the end. Small enough that the lift crew were ok with it, definitely didn’t tip me forward but big enough for extra layer, hat, snack etc.

But it was so cold that the bladder tube and mouthpiece froze, so no good for water 😂

For future/anyone else, you can get insulated ones. I have one like this with a sleeve over the tube and a cap on the mouthpiece, although mine is also a small rucksack.

I have a slimline ski-specific rucsac that allows me to sit back properly on ski lifts. If it's really cold, water freezes in the hydration pack tubes, even with a neoprene cover. I tend to take water in a small bottle (panda pops size) in my pocket to get some body heat.

pockets in the ski jacket.

dc were away skiing with school recently and they specified that packpacks were not allowed on the piste.

Makes sense for kids but it was an adult asking the question.
