Petit club at club med

Has anyone used the petit club at club med? My 2.5 year old is booked to use it when we go in March but I'm just wondering what it's like and just looking for a bit of intel really! Thanks

My DD has been to one of the summer ones. She loved it! The staff were very friendly. They completely cured her fear of water too- she went from screaming in the bath or happily swimming under their watch. They did a show. It was very cute.

Yes, our grandson was in it. He seemed to have a lovely time, lots of activities, an end of week ‘show’.
Don’t forget you need to take your ‘red book’ or whatever it is called as proof that he has had the usual inoculations. We watched a poor Russian couple trying to persuade the club to accept their child. Nothing doing without the correct document.

Thanks for this @TrickyD, had no idea we had to take this! Did you go to a ski resort?

@FlounderingFruitcake sounds fab! Thank you

We didn’t have to provide proof of vaccination. That might be local law dependent? If they want it I’d expect to be told in advance because that’s not standard holiday packing!

skidoer · 18/01/2023 12:35

I'll take them just in case I think. They don't take up much room so will veer on the safe side.

Does anyone else have any experience of the kids club at a ski resort specifically? Our daughter is 4 so she'll be skiing but just not sure how it'll work for our little boy. He goes to nursery a few days a week here so hoping he'll be ok.

Not sure if this is helpful but combining the summer club med with the ski resort childcare we’ve used-

  • It’ll look a lot like a normal nursery room with similar toys, activities etc., they have a mini play gym
  • They’ll try to get them outside for walk and play everyday but won’t if it’s very cold (the cut off will likely be somewhere between -5 and -10)
  • They’ll have lunch, CM food is really good, and they usually have a dedicated baby restaurant and then will go down for a nap afterwards with quiet time for non nappers
  • There will be some practicing for the all important show

Good shout on taking the vaccine records. Don’t take any chances and risk your skiing!

skidoer, yes we went to Club Med Serre Chevalier. This trip in February will be our third stay there. It suits everyone, including ancient, no longer skiing, me.

Here is the info about the Red Book:

In some of our resorts (including French resorts), proof of vaccination (NHS Red Book) or letter from the doctor proving that the child is fit for the childcare structure may be requested to approve the registration. Doctors and nurses onsite will also be able to approve the registration of the child in the Club Med® childcare structures following an appointment on arrival at the resort.

Worth taking to be on the safe side.

@TrickyD thank you. Would you say most people leave the little ones all day or for part of the day? We weren't planning to use the nursery all day, just for part of the day and then take him on the baby slopes ourselves in the afternoon

skidoer, on our first stay at CM, Grandson was three and a half, and as far as I can remember he did not necessarily stay for the whole day. I think a lot of parents removed them for part of the day, but it would depend on how the child felt about the club. The second time, last year, he was in the section for slightly older children and he stayed all day. I imagine he will do that this year. His mum is not coming so I suppose I will be roped in for granny duty, escorting to and from his club activities.

skidoer · 19/01/2023 14:47

@TrickyD ah ok. Our little one will be 3 in April so he's just shy of the ski school but I'm not sure id trust him to do it with an instructor yet anyway, I think we'll just give him a little go ourselves. As long as we can get a few hours in skiing then we're happy! Gone are the days of skiing all day, my legs can't stand it anymore!

I'm glad I saw this post as I had no idea about the red book either, although both of mine will be in lessons so maybe it's not relevant. I'll take it along just in case though! Which resort are you going to?

TrickyD · 20/01/2023 19:17

The Red Book requirement may just be a Club Med thing. But better to take along anyway wherever.
skidoer I was talking to DS today about DGS and ski lessons in the kids club. He said there were lots of instructors so plenty of supervision.

I think it applies to French daycare generally.
