Leaving tomorrow, holiday company changed hotel, advice please

Hi, wondering if anyone can advise me please? We booked a one week skiing holiday in Courcheval about 3 months ago, hotel, half board, lift passes etc. We fly on Saturday, very early and airport is a distance away, so we actually plan to leave mid afternoon tomorrow.

So, hotel booked for tomorrow night at airport, dog booked in kennels etc. Today at 3.45 pm the travel agent phoned, the hotel we have booked in Courcheval is no longer doing food, apparently they can't get any staff. So, they suggest we go out to a restaurant which is 10 minutes walk away, this will be included in the price we already paid.

However, to go out, especially in the evening in the dark, temperature likely -10 to -15 so have to wear full ski gear is not what we wanted, we booked a cosy hotel with open fires and its own restaurant.

Quite simply, we don't want to go anymore, if we wanted to go out at night we would have booked self-catering. So, within 24 hours of leaving for our longed for, carefully planned holiday, it has turned into something we don't want to do.

My question is, can we insist on a refund, does anyone know?

@Clariana I popped on to see what happened and I think this is the best outcome for you. I'm really sorry you didn't get your holiday and I know the anticipation is part of the enjoyment and now you must be feeling a bit down. But chin up and have a great holiday later in the season.

I've never been skiing myself! Tend to go to art galleries. Currently in snowy northern Scotland laid up with a virus so it's very picturesque outside the window!

That’s dreadful at such short notice.

Have a look online tonight op. Crystal had some amazing deals this morning flying from Edinburgh (I didn’t look at other airports). You could get a creaking deal for this weekend and still be able to go later in the season too.

Glad this worked out for you. We ski every year and always do half board for this very reason.
After a long day on the slopes we come back, swim, sauna etc and head down for dinner in casual gear , sliders etc !! Do not want to be dressing up for the cold again .
