Two double/ boosted vaxxed adults skiing in France but flying into GVA. No test required right?

Have I read everything correctly?! Seemed to go around a circles a little bit but from the French and Swiss websites I believe we don’t need a pre-travel PCR/ antigen test to fly into Geneva from the UK and then there are no testing requirements between Switzerland and France.

I don't think that's right - I think because you'll have been in a non EU / Schengen country in the days before (and you're only transitting through GVA) you have to have a -ve antigen test. For the sake of £20 each or thereabouts for the tests, I wouldn't risk it. This is from the Morzine Magazine website which is really useful :

Travel to France via Switzerland
If you’re fully vaccinated and travelling from the UK with the intention of landing in a Swiss airport to transit (i.e. exit the airport and change transport method) into France, then French travel rules ask that you present a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of travel OR a negative anti-gen test taken within 24 hours of travel to France.

– Note that the entry requirements to land in and stay in Switzerland are different and shouldn’t be confused with those which apply when you intend to travel on to France. Currently, you do not need to take any test to fly from the UK to Switzerland.

– You will also be required to demonstrate that you’ve been fully vaccinated as per the French schedule (that’s two vaccinations plus a booster, see above) if you’re aged 18 years, 1 month or over.

– You must also complete the (very simple) Swiss Passenger Locator Form, which you will find HERE.

That’s the strategy we’re taking too. I couldn’t work out either if we definitely need it, and chances of getting stopped crossing from
Switzerland to France and someone checking are negligible but I’m still not risking it. £20pp is naff all compared to the overall cost of a ski holiday!

Thank you @RandomQuest and @Africa2go! I think it’s probably a good plan, although I’m pretty sure no one will check… where would you “present” your negative test if flying into GVA?

£20 is definitely worth it! I’m not sure where to get tests like this. I guess there are plenty companies in this business now though. Will have a Google!

Crossing the border into France

OnthePiste · 05/02/2022 12:21

I am doing the same in a couple of weeks and a friend has told me you need to fill in a Swiss and French PLF. These are checked before departure from the UK and you will need to show your LF result here if travelling to France. You can buy LF tests now for as little as £11.99. www.nxhealthcare.co.uk/product/fit-to-fly-antigen-test-outbound/

@OnthePiste when I flew with BA to GVA the airline was not interested in French documentation, just the Swiss requirements. There isn’t even a French PLF for vaccinated people, just a test and a declaration sur l’honneur (now the relevant one is for the Amber countries). Nothing was checked at the road border but I’d done the declaration and test in case. uk.ambafrance.org/COVID-19-rules-for-travel-between-France-and-the-UK-28918

OnthePiste · 05/02/2022 12:47

@abricotine thanks for this, I'm hoping that by the time we go in 4 weeks they may have scrapped the requirement for the LF test anyway.

abricotine · 05/02/2022 14:09

@OnthePiste definitely, hope so too!
