Skiing in France with family

I've got a few questions about covid and skiing in France at feb half term. Can anyone confirm the following please? My husband and I are fully vaccinated with double dose and booster. My son (14) is double vaccinated (not eligible for booster yet). My daughter (7) is not vaccinated and has just recovered from covid. 1) Do all of us need to do a pre-departure test or just the over twelves? 2) is the NHS covid vaccination app accepted in resorts in place of the French the Pass Sanitaire? Does my daughter (7) need one? 3) is my son classed as fully vaccinated without the booster? 4) Where can I buy the authorised face masks for lifts? I'm finding bits of info on various websites but nothing definitive esp about my 7 year old. Any help much appreciated!

  1. 12 and over only for pre departure tests
  2. i think so. You can’t always try downloading the TousAntiCovid app and scanning your nhs certs into that. The app is much easier to access than the NHS one, it’s just a wallet really. The pass sanitaire only applies to aged 12 yrs and 2 months and up (your 7 yr old doesn’t need it).
  3. Yes he is : booster not obligatory for 12-15 yr old. 4)masks - just bog standard surgical masks or catégorie 1 cloth masks - not home made. You can search ‘category 1’ or ‘masques grands publics’ on Amazon.fr.

We’ve got a 12 year old going who is double vaccinated- how do we get proof of this?

Snoopsnoggysnog · 23/01/2022 09:19

We’ve got a similar but more complicated problem so following!

@Velvetmousse

Do you have vaccination letters or certificates ? Paper copies are okay. Do they have QR codes ? If so, download the french TousAntiCovid app and see if you can scan them in. You can add her certs to your own in the app.

This is really helpful thanks all. So to clarify, under 12s don't need to show anything anywhere and no test, right? No need for proof of recovery letter for under 12s? Over 12s are like adults and need pre-departure test and health pass. I hope understood that correctly!

Almost right! It's complique as the rules for travel and for the pass sanitaire are quite separate, different and about to become even more so with the pass vaccinal kicking in from tomorrow.

For travel (UK to France): if the adults are fully vaccinated by French definition, which you are, then minors are treated as vaccinated adults. This means pre-departure negative test and you have to include them on your sworn statement / attestation that you don't have symptoms etc. Under 12 don't need anything to travel IF they are travelling with vaccinated adults. So yes, your 14 yr old will need to do a test but your 7yr old wont.

Once you are in France: everyone aged 12yrs and 2 months and up will need a pass sanitaire to get into restaurants, cafes, etc and ski lifts. For you and your OH (16yrs +) your proof of vaccination will suffice. For your 14 yr old - he's vaccinated by French standards, so he's good to go as long as you have proof. Your 7 yr old doesn't need a pass sanitaire - she's good to go.

That's brilliant thank you. We're going at half term. Do we need to have a pass vaccinal and a pass sanitaire or does the former replace the latter? Can we use the nhs app for that do you know? Wish we'd booked with a ski company rather than going Independently! Confused

IIDK about the NHS app. I do know that if you have QR codes on your certificates (and you can request them for teens in the UK) you can scan the certificates directly into the TousAntiCovid app and it will update automatically to a pass vaccinal as far as I know. It's dead handy too - you can put as many certificates on there are you like, useful if someone forgets their phone or it dies. It's a lot more accessible than the NHS one.

So helpful. Many thanks. Got tousanticovid on my phone and added my vaccine qr code. Printed off multiple copies and in plastic folder to keep water tight. Now to try to figure out how to part my 14 year old son from his phone long enough to get his app sorted out 🤣🤣

Sorry to hijack OP

My DD will have just turned 12 when we go, but she won’t be able to get vaccinated as she’s just had COVID. Does anyone know what the deal is with this situation?
