Clothes for Austria in March

Good morning, hoping for some advice from veterans re skiing wardrobe. It's out first family ski holiday and I think I have the kids sorted but what should I be looking at for myself other than ski jacket, trousers and base layers? In terms of dinner at night etc should we be taking dressy stuff or is it more casual?

Probably pretty casual
We go to Austria and Germany pretty regularly (not skiing) and it’s very rare to dress up.
I’ve been to French ski resorts and again all pretty casual, apart from The Russians

Ski resorts are pretty casual so jeans and jumper cover you for dinner pretty much anywhere, maybe a really nice jumper and black jeans if it’s Michelin starred. You’ll also want waterproof shoes/snow boots so you don’t get wet and cold feet on the walk to dinner!

Smart casual is the norm. Take indoor shoes if you are in a hotel and boots for outside. It might be warm so take layers you can shed if needs be or it could be cold so take hat, gloves, thermals.

I think that depends on your hotel and the demographic of the resort. I was staying in Seefeld in quite an 'old' adults only hotel, so it was slightly frowned upon to be in a jeans and tshirt at dinner, but they were happy enough at kind of 'golf club' casual (e.g collared shirts, nice top for the ladies etc).

Brilliant, thanks so much all. This is really helpful. We're also trying to pack light-ish as travelling from Munich.

🤣The Russians

I second what someone said above about buying snow boots to wear around the town. Trainers will get soaking wet & leather boots/smart shoes are lethal on ice.

All resorts I've been to have been really casual.

I highly recommend a pair of crocs to wear down to the boot room. The floor will be wet and they are very easy to slip on and off.

I have a lovely pair of Sweaty Betty joggers that I almost cry with relief when I slip into after getting out of ski kit.

I also love Sorrel snow boots.

I think casual goes everywhere in Austria and I'd say make sure you have think top layers and short sleeves for dinner. My experience is that heating everywhere in Austria works extremely well, buildings are well made and insulated and it is almost always too hot for me in a jumper at dinner.
