New Italy rules for 12-15 year olds

Aaaggghhh, where do I start. Please bear with me.

So we (two fully boostered adults and two DC's plus lots of family and friends) supposed to fly to Italy on 5/2/22. Youngest is under 12 so no issues there. Eldest is 13, had 1 x Pfizer in October would have been due 2nd dose mid January but tested positive on 26/12/21.

Italy require us all to have a 'super green pass' which myself, DH and DC2 all meet requirements for. For the 13yo DC1 to have a super green pass he needs 2 x doses of a vaccine, (which is now impossible given that he can't have a vaccine within 28 days of a positive test) or a Covid recovery certificate.

Hugely frustrating quandary for 12-15yo's - if he was 16+ he could access Covid recovery certificate via the NHS app and although T&T will send out a hard copy of vaccine pass to 12-15 yo's they do not send a hard copy of a Covid result/recovery certificate. Why?! 🤷🏼‍♀️

What are my options does anyone know? Google just gives me lots of adverts for private GP services who will charge around £100 for the recovery certificate. I will have to pay this if it's the only option but would love to know if anyone been in this situation and what you did?

Please add your voice to the argument for extending recovery QR codes to the 12+ age group

I have my DS linked to my NHS app and I am supposed to have proxy for him but I still can't see his vaccinations. Very frustrating

DorotheaDiamond · 14/01/2022 22:12

Can you see them in his health record? Can you see his previous vaccination- eg me?Don’t think you will get a Covid pass for him if that’s what you are looking for :-(

Wistful977 · 14/01/2022 22:52

No I can't see his first vaccination anywhere. I will ring the Gp surgery again on Monday but they seem clueless about how to do this.

goingtotown · 14/01/2022 23:06

Phone 119 they'll send you hard copies of vaccinations.

Whitelight22 - This is the reply that I have received

If they've had both vax, the letter from 119 has a QR code on it - it just doesn't show recovery

Iamblossom · 15/01/2022 14:38

FYI you can't request the letter until 5 working days after the second vax and it takes 5 working days to arrive

RiseAgain · 15/01/2022 19:35

My (vigorous) research indicates that in Italy they are aware that a British 12YO won't be able to have a QR code for covid recovery (unlike children from EU countries where anyone, regardless of age can get a QR code easily Hmm)

I am forking out for a GP letter and will hope they won't kick us out once we arrive in the hotel...

Nomorerainplease · 15/01/2022 22:46

Following as in same position- a 12 year old daughter who had Covid before she could get her 1st jab so I need a proof of recovery /QR code

Hoping they will sort it for half term!!

OliverIlGatto · 17/01/2022 15:27

We are exactly in the same situation with our 12-year-old who has had a first vaccine and now caught Covid.
We are going round in circles with GP, 119, etc..

From what I understand, even linking the profile will not provide a QR code and external companies will provide a Covid letter, but no QR code.
A non digital (paper) Covid Pass is being considered, but when and will it include 12-year-olds? It does not look any time soon.

Apparently nhs app will have kids Covid passes from 3/2

OliverIlGatto · 22/01/2022 11:06

Many thanks @DorotheaDiamond. This is great news! Until I see this happen I won't rest.
What you showed is in line with an article from yesterday:
www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/01/21/families-forced-cancel-half-term-holidays-restrictive-covid/
It mentions the Health Secretary would be making a statement in thenext few days. Fingers crossed!
I will also contact our MP now.

Wondering if anyone managed to use proof of recovery from a private company in Italy? Hoping to travel with my 10 year old at Easter and will need it for them to get into the country as I’d like to avoid the need for a test.

Keladrythesaviour · 05/03/2022 07:43

@Stellaknows2022 it might be worth joining and going in the forum Italia Pass - there they have a big forum dedicated to the super green pass and knowledgeable people in Italy and abroad working out how to do these things. I found it very useful for clarifying our own travel plans

Stellaknows2022 · 05/03/2022 07:53

Ok thanks- do you have the link for it?

Keladrythesaviour · 05/03/2022 08:02

community.italiapass.com/ hope that works!
