Thinking about a few days skiing in Scotland - which resort would you recommend for 2 adults and one 17 yr old please? None of us have skied in ages. Thanks.

Perhaps have a look at this and check the snow page for each resort- looks like there is no skiing snow

I would have a read of this: snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?p=4863670&highlight=scotland#4863670

The gist of many Scottish skiing threads I've read is that you need to go prepared to spend a few enjoyable days in the mountains and if the conditions are right, you might get some skiing in. It is not like the Alps!

Thanks for the links. I was thinking snowy fun as much as skiing, so maybe sledging, snowy walks, ice skating etc. Aviemore appears to be more "serious" skiing than the other resorts?

Following, as interested in skiing in Scotland next year, I was holding out hope for Austria, but that won't be happening!
We did ski in Cairngorm one year, but it was very grassy and muddy! We maybe just picked the wrong time of year.

We snowboarded in the Cairngorms (Aviemore) for 2 years running and while it was great fun & a beautiful place, we probably wouldn’t do it again. We’ve since been going to places in Europe.
The main problem we found with Scotland was that there was no guarantee you would even get on the mountain (weather dependent) and we had a few days of no access to the slopes which can be disappointing. Obviously there’s never a guarantee anywhere but the mountains in Europe are so vast & there tends to be so many resorts that you can normally find an open one. I’ve just seen an update from Cairngorms this morning to say they are closed due to high winds.
Personally I would say go somewhere like France or Austria.
I think like a pp said if you are planning on Scotland then maybe have some back up ideas planned in case the slopes are closed. We hired mountain bikes one day in Aviemore which was good fun :-)

We had a school ski trip to Aviemore years ago. There wasn't a drop of snow anywhere but was a fun holiday dry slope skiing and mountain biking.

You really can't plan skiing in Scotland in advance. And, for the Lecht at least, if there's decent snow, the access road is often closed so you can't get there. I wouldn't recommend the Lecht anyway - it's sufficient if you live nearby but not much else to do. Aviemore has lots more non skiing stuff to do.

Aviemore is great for finding other things to do if there is no skiing. However ....
More often than not there is too little snow, or too much wind, or they close the road up. Also the funicular is not running currently, so the uplift is very very limited.
Check you can book lift tickets as currently none available (limiting numbers on slopes due to lack of snow).

Glenshee looks good at the moment.
