Are you still skiiing in France before Christmas?

More specifically, as a family with double vaccinated adults and at least one single-vaccinated teen that's going to need to test every day, are you still going for it?

We're due to depart at the weekend. Whole family recently recovered, not that we can evidence that for the teen in Europe. I think I've got my head around all the testing, but it's the (tiny?) prospect of one of us testing positive whilst we're over there, having to quarantine, vast extra expense, missing Christmas back home etc, that's giving me the vapours.

Please tell me you're gung ho, it'll all be fine, and you'll have a great time....

Concrètement, les voyageurs devront s'enregistrer et la validité des tests pour se rendre en France depuis le Royaume-Uni va être réduite de 48 heures à 24 heures. Les motifs de voyage seront en outre «limités aux résidents (français) et à leurs familles», a-t-il précisé sur BFMTV et RMC. Les déplacements de «tourisme ou professionnels pour des personnes qui ne sont pas résidentes en France seront limités».

Anyone any idea if you manage to cross into France before the deadline whether the new rules about quarantine still apply?

Or how this affects British citizens crossing the border from Switzerland?

From Saturday 18 December 2021 (0.00) onwards, the following rules will apply to all people travelling from the United Kingdom, whether or not they are vaccinated:

British citizens who are resident in the UK are banned from entering France - the route is immaterial. No doubt the French border force will be looking out for Brits attempting to fly to Geneva and then cross into France, but the required Entry Forms will find them out anyway.

We are in France and skiing in a v famous place for over a month and loads of people have come through from Geneva post-border closure. Swiss transfer or Swiss car hire. Only be an issue if the Swiss-French border shuts.

FWIW announcement due in about an hour by French PM and Health Minister (1815 UK time, Monday) on possible increase in French restrictions.
