I think I've managed to take confuse myself reading too many threads and Snowheads!
Double vac parents, 2 single dose teens going before Xmas.
I'm not due I understand what apps I need to show PCR tests for them and how long each test is valid for before having to retest in the resort?!

Could someone please explain it in layman's terms?!

@Allthelols

Blimey this is getting more complicated by the day! Do you have to quarantine for two days on arrival in U.K. with a test after arrival if you did a pre entry test 48 hours before also?
You need to do a PCR on or before day 2 after returning back in the uk and isolate until you get a negative result, as well as the one taken before returning to the UK. You can do it immediately on retuning which will cut the time in isolation (as long as it’s negative).

Please note, the pre departure test can be a lateral flow. It does not have to be PCR!

Is that an antigen test in our resort? I'm assuming u can't take a freebie NHS test with to do there before departure? I am so confused over what test is which! We've booked pre departure tests 24 hours in advance with results in three hours. Kids will do antigen every day there. We will book Day 2 tests (foray of us) to arrive via post before we go. Payment Ref number needed for locator forms.

The kids every day antigen tests can still be used as evidence for UK borders I'm assuming so that just leaves DH and I to do them before we leave too? I hope that's all correct 😬

Yeah, to return to U.K. either take a U.K. LFT (private) with you that you send a pic off and get a certificate. Perhaps easier, as your teens are being tested, the last time they get tested you get tested too. Antigen is fine

Yes day 0-2 (once home) have to be PCR.

How feasible is skiing next week in France now with a 12-15 with only 1 jab?

DH was prevented from getting on an EasyJet to Toulouse on Sunday because he had only done a pre-departure late flow, not PCR - so we all get pre-departure PCR. If I do that the day before the day before we leave, that covers him for first day? Second day?

Then what, in resort lateral flows every other day and then we call join in on the last one for return t UK? Or do they have to be PCR now too?

Will he be ok getting into restaurants etc?

ncski · 07/12/2021 13:57

@Sonex Feasible, but barely and with some risk, i.e. testing positive and having to quarantine out there.

DH was prevented from getting on an EasyJet to Toulouse on Sunday because he had only done a pre-departure late flow, not PCR

Had he done a certified antigen test, or just an NHS one? The French embassy website says negative PCR or antigen:

uk.ambafrance.org/COVID-19-rules-for-travel-between-France-and-the-UK-28918

And "Tests whose results are not certified by a laboratory (such as the self-administered tests provided free of charge by the NHS) are not considered valid for travel". However lab certified antigen tests done at home appear to be okay. E.g. the "Leaving the UK
Rapid Antigen Pre-Departure Test" on sites like www.c19testing.co.uk/ are advertised as being accepted by France, and there are lots of recent positive reviews on Trustpilot.

In resort certified antigen tests every day for single jabbed teens to get their Pass Sanitaire for access to restaurants, lift passes etc. Same to get on the plane to come home.

If your DH has an NHS QR code for being fully vaccinated or recovered he should be fine.

Sonex · 07/12/2021 14:03

I know the websites all still say that but he had done a certified antigen test from Express Test at the drive through place at Gatwick where they do it for you and email you a certificate and QR code

www.expresstest.co.uk/book-a-test/?utm_source=affiliate_marketing&utm_medium=cnctia&utm_campaign=02.2021&reqid=37081293&affid=1014 - Antigen Lateral Flow Fit to Fly - because it was cheaper than the PCR ones. We've used these multiple times this year - bit the antigen and the PCR one.

But him, all his party and most of the plane were refused entry onto the flight by Easyjet to Toulouse this Sunday AM. Only people allowed on were French people with antigen tests (I think, he is still there so not sure if this is accurate) and UK people with PCR fit to fly tests only.
