Good snowsure places for new year

Any suggestions where? I'd love to go away for new year but know that it needs to be a higher resort to get any sort of guarantee of snow.

Hello. Here are some high up resorts/glacier resorts.

Italy - Cervinia, Champoluc, Courmayeur
France -Tignes, Avoriaz, Deux Alpes
Austria - Obergurgl

It depends on how much ski experience you have though too as there are some great places that are snow sure but not necessarly the easiest skiing for beginners.

And budget, new year isn't the cheaprest time to to go!

We go to Saas Fee at Chrismtas/NY and have never not been able to ski in the last 8 or 9 years, some years certainly better than others but if you are comfortable on all pistes then there's usually a goood few options, though a bit more limited if you need to stick to blues.

If beginners also consider temps which are much lower on December and it’s much snowier generally - don’t underestimate how much nicer sunny ski days are

My kids hate skiing when it’s actually snowing

NCTDN · 23/02/2020 21:23

Thank you. I'm conscious that it will be colder but like the idea of new year rather than a rushed half term. It certainly won't cost more than Feb half term anyway!
Off to Google now!

Arcs 2000. It's very high so usually snow is good.

Stubai glacier. Although when we were there Jan 2019 we nearly list a day due to too much snow! (And then nearly got snowed in on the last day)

CruCru · 24/02/2020 21:59

Val Thorens - however it does get “flat light” quite often.

Most of the 3 Vallées should be reasonably snow sure.

NCTDN · 24/02/2020 22:35

Ooh,I don't like flat light Confused

Surely high altitude means above tree line means more snow sure but more susceptible to flat light? That’s been my experience over the years anyway... best to choose somewhere with a combination so you Almost always have somewhere suitable to go, no matter what the conditions.
