Nanny gift.

We are off to France tomorrow to go skiing. Younger two will be in kids club/ski lessons for much of the time. The nanny staff have always been incredible and I would like to give them something at the end of the week to show our appreciation. Any ideas of what they might fancy? Possibly things I can take from England.
Thank you

How the other half live Grin

As an ex nanny, I would say cash.

usedtobeananny · 13/02/2020 13:53

In a naice card Grin

@legalseagull oh for goodness sake. Hmm Biscuit it’s a pretty normal question. Enjoy your holiday OP - I think cash would go down best. I’m sure these seasonal type workers aren’t the best paid

LightDrizzle · 13/02/2020 13:57

Sounds fabulous. There must be people on here who’ve done similar jobs who can tell you.
However I’d have thought a generous cash tip tucked into a handwritten thank you card would be the best of all.
They won’t be paid a kings ransom and it’s expensive being out there, even with saisonnaires discounts.

legalseagull · 13/02/2020 13:58

I was joking @pollyputthepastaon thus the smiley face.

I'd say a cash tip would be more appreciated!

Wordofwarning · 13/02/2020 14:00

We’ve often taken things like marmite too - always appreciated as it’s so flipping expensive out there!

But ultimately cash is good,

taptonaria27 · 13/02/2020 14:12

You could maybe attach cash to a big bar of Dairy Milk or another British chocolate - this is really popular amongst my dd's friendship group

Francina670 · 13/02/2020 14:15

Hard hard cash

Heatingson · 13/02/2020 14:25

Brilliant, thanks. Cash and a bar of dairy milk it is.

Loads of childcare staff only go out for the peak week rather than the season. I’d stick to cash personally.

TeetotalKoala · 13/02/2020 19:49

Great thread! Our two have their last day at ski school tomorrow and I was going to get their instructor a thank you card and was wondering about a gift. Cash it is!

hopefulhalf · 13/02/2020 19:51

We have done chocolates and cash !

Theresnoroomonmybroom · 13/02/2020 19:53

I worked as a nanny in a ski resort and was paid £45 a week so I too would say cash and some choc/sweets from home.

Hope you have a fab holiday x

Snoodleberry · 13/02/2020 19:55

Cash, thank you note, and some Percy pigs - best things we ever received from a family at the end of a tough week. Smile
