We are looking at Val Cenis France for February. We have three children who will be learning with the ESF. I wonder if any mumsnetters have experience of this area and can suggest accommodation walking distance to esf area?

I'd love for the kids to carry their own stuff.

we skied in Val Cenis in February. we spent a day there while we were staying at Aussois, which is a linked pass so you can spend a day skiing at termignon, aussois, la norma and val cenis on a weeks pass for one resort (if you see what i mean). The buses are easy to catch so if you are in val cenis you could spend a day in aussois (small but perfectly formed and sunny!)
It was a beautiful resort, very family friendly. I really liked it and we are discussing going back there for a full week. There are sunny slopes and nice cruisyblues and some stinking black mogul runs there are pretty tree runs (the snail is the longest green in europe if you like that sort of thing) and there is a very nasty drag lift (it is marked as such and there is another way to the top!)
The restaurants were friendly and the food was good.

Peak Retreats do accommodation there - you have to organize your own transport . Driving down was very easy as the resorts are straight off the motorway but our friends came on the train and found it relatively hassle free. They also do accommodation to other maurienne resorts so worth considering . Not many british either, but more brits in Val Cenis than Aussois.

We've been there twice now and stayed at a CGH complex - Les Chalets des Flambeau - easy to book direct on their website but we don't need ferry/ tunnel so Peak Retreats might be better for you. Can walk to the ESF meeting point, a small supermarket and bar. Everything else is a drive but the ease of the ski meeting/ boot room etc outweighs this.
