How expensive is Montgenevre?

I'm looking at self catering in Montgenevre next year and wondering if anyone can help give me some advice about how much food/beer/wine might cost out there? I have heard that France can be extremely expensive- €14 or more for a pint of beer!

Do a virtual online shop for the local sherpa it will.give all the prices (Just don't complete the sale if it s just to get prices)
www.sherpa.net/en/
Also search the restaurants online and look at their menus online to see the prices

Hi so we were there last Easter - it's a super resort. We stayed in the mmv residence, better than expected with a heated outdoor pool and could order breakfast pain au chocolat and baguettes from reception.

As with most French resorts it wasn't cheap. If you come from Turin airport you could rent a car ( easy drive) and fill up at a supermarket on the way. The local shop was expensive- one evening we had a ready roasted chicken that cost 16.50 -it was quite nice though. They also sold cooked pizzas and they were good value as absolutely huge - definitely enough for 2 people for 10-13 euros. There was a lovely restaurant on the slopes and I mostly had a salad bar from there at lunchtime think it was about 10 euros. Restaurants in the evening were pricey but there was a reasonable selection of them.

We hired our skis from Abba sports who were just opposite the slopes and offer a discount if you do it online.

We didn't drink any 15 euros pints of beers btw. Did have a few drinks at the local bar don't remember them being excessively high.

That's so helpful thank you both. I have looked at some of the restaurants online and they don't look too expensive but didn't think of trying to check an online shop so I will do that now.

I'm looking at an apartment in the obelisk area which I am guessing is where you stayed rookiemere? Is it ok to walk into the centre from there with kids? Thank you

Hi wistful it's a 10-15 min walk from the Obelisk area to the slopes - depending if you're hulking your ski gear or not ( you can leave skis overnight at Abba ski hire can't remember if you can leave boots) or you can get the ski bus which I think was every 20 minutes or so.

Thank you that's good to know. It sounded much closer on the apartment description- they said 50 metres to the slopes! I thought it might be a walk in for restaurants etc but didn't think it would be that far to the slopes Confused

Well it might be a bit closer than our apartments. Technically they were close to the slopes but not the main ones. It's a lovely resort though so i wouldn't be put off.
