Know this resort is ideal for families and beginners but needs to be a very cheap self catering holiday.

Is driving really cheaper?? Once you factor in petrol (diesel!), Tolls, extra European car insurance?! Etc
Kids need to go to ski school.

Any idea if you can go at Easter for less than £3k?!!

Thanks for any ideas, tips,!

You might manage that this year as Easter is late and it's not one of the usual Easter resorts. I'd be concerned about snow quality myself

La Rosiere is south facing so loses a lot of snow by the end of the season, and Easter is late this year. I'd be looking to either go earlier or find somewhere snow-sure at that time.

FWIW, we are doing Tignes for about £2k at Easter (April 7th-14th) for 4 of us - self-drive & self-cater, but don't need ski school, and dh and I have our own equipment so only need to hire for two teenagers.

We’re staying in La Tania the same week as stringbean on the basis that we don’t actually ski there, but go up to Courchevel. Accommodation is much cheaper there than in the main 3 valleys resorts and we'll drive down, which is a quarter of the cost of flights for four of us. We don’t need lessons though.

I used to live in La Rosiere and the snow quality is generally very poor towards the end of season.

But the resort is quite cheap to eat out in etc. If SC then there are supermarkets just before you go up the mountain.

Parking isn't always easy though depending on which part you are staying in. It always used to be free but I've been gone 5 years. It was always very busy at Easter. You will generally need to pay in most other resorts in the area and it isn't cheap. The police round there are very hot on parking tickets.

If you do self drive make sure you do your homework on a route and which cols are open etc. You need to go up via Bourg St Maurice. The Col du Petit St Bernard WILL be closed. There are a lot of speed cameras in the area and the odd sneaky mobile speed trap at touristy times. If arriving on a Saturday then be prepared to sit in a traffic jam for several hours from Albertville to Moutiers. Really not joking.

Also get your ski school booking done asap for wherever you go. The ski companies will generally have already taken up a lot of the spaces.
