What to wear in resort at Xmas?

I haven't skied for years and never at Xmas. We are going to Val Thorens with our two teenage sons and I'm not sure what to bring to wear in evenings? Will in need snow boots for the resort or just 'nice' boots? Should i bring something other than jeans and jumpers? Help, I've no idea what to expect! We are staying in the Hotel Val Thorens 1/2 board if that helps!

Evening skiwear in resorts usually pretty relaxed so jeans and jumpers will be fine. Maybe a nice sparkly one for Christmas Eve/Day? I only wear snow boots outside but you might want a pair of trainers for going to dinner in the hotel.

I don't wear snow boots I just wear walking boots. You definitely want something with grip because the resort roads will have snow on them and you don't want wet feet or to fall over. Dress code will be pretty casual I'd just wear jeans and a jumper

I wouldn't wear "nice" boots if you mean leather. They'll get ruined. Walking shoes or snow boots or trainers would be better

As others have said, snow boots or walking boots for outside. I’d also take a pair of trainers/shoes for wearing to the hotel restaurant. Jeans and short-sleeve tops as they are always hot inside, with jumper/hoody/fleece if walking outside. I would definitely recommend taking a smarter top for Christmas Eve dinner though - I felt distinctly underdressed last time I went skiing at Christmas as all the other guests were dressed up. I wouldn’t waste luggage space on a whole smart outfit, just the top.

Oh and it was Christmas Eve that was the special dinner in France, not Christmas Day! Not a typo!
