Looking to book a ski holiday for my partners 40th mid January.
He has never skied before so looking for a resort that has good runs for beginners-intermediate.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

Have also flown into Trieste for Austrian ski resorts!

Which airport? Salzburg - look at Flachau/Wagrain, Waidring, Zell am See/Kaprun. Innsbruck - Seefeld, Igls, Obertauern, St Anton, Montafon valley.

Another vote for Morzine. I learnt there in 2015. If your hubby’s thinking of lessons when he’s out there, I’d recommend (native English speaking) BASI instructors over (very French Hmm) ESF ones.

Morzine is quite low altitude so if there isn’t much snow around when you go, it’s worth taking the lift up to Avoriaz where there are some nice blues for beginners.

Have fun! Hopefully your husband will love it. Smile

I have been to Morzine three times recently. Ask me anything!

Have booked skis/boots with Intersport, which were ok. but can highly recommend www.ski-mobile.com
They deliver to you so no queuing up in shop etc etc. We found the equipment to be better quality so return customer for third trip!

Ski Passes - Check the Portes du Soleil website. They have special prices on weekend and Tuesday/Thursday some weeks. We saved big time over booking full week pass up front. Can be booked online once you have the little plastic pass, which works sorta like an oyster card for top ups.

Happy skiing!

Thanks ! I've booked equipment and lessons but will check out the ski lift pass website !!

Are there any restaurants you recommend ? My partner will turn 40 when we are out there.

@emmar88 We have most recently stayed in catered chalets, so only ate out one night out of seven per trip. The chalet had a few recommendations, and we chose L'Etale www.etale-morzine.com, which was very busy, but had a good atmosphere. Food was 7/10. A few of our chalet mates went to a micro-brewery, which they thought was great: Bec Jaune Brewery. But neither could be considered special/romantic.

Oh, just remembered, the ski school ESF have a "learn to ski" program which includes ski passes and equipment, and seemed like a very good deal for beginners.

I've paid for everything except ski pass Confused but will contact esf to see if they can supply lift pass at a better price x
