Andorra or Austria - which is better for families?

DH works in travel and has got us a discount on a ski holiday (hurray!) - we can either go to Andorra or Austria.

We usually ski in France or Italy, so I'd love to hear from anyone with views on the resorts.

The options are Austria: Saalbach, Serfaus, Zell am See, Schladming, St Johann in Tirol, St Anton, Obergurgl, Mayrhofen, Kitzbühel, Ischgl

And in Andorra: Arinsal, Pas de la Casa or Soldeu.

We like easy family skiing, good food, and kind people in the resort.

Thank you

Slardy

I'm suprised you found Andorra cheaper as it actually has one of the dearest lift passes in Europe. Many years ago when I first went it was known as the cheapo place but it's all 4-5 star hotels now so much more expensive. It's drawing major events which using prices up too. It's a fab place to learn yes, but with 210km on the lift pass I find (being an experienced skier) that once you're out of the nursery/ 1/2 hour ski radius, it's pretty empty with only experienced skiers there. It's so vast that beginners have enough 'beginners slopes' to occupy a week that they don't venture that far out.

In four holidays we've not covered even half the Grandvilara lift pass area

Well, we haven't been for a few years, so I guess the prices could have hiked up since we did? It being cheap at the time was the reason why we went there - when my son was a novice and it wasn't a holiday that deserved a big budget.
We don't do package holidays at all anymore, but I remember that places like Arinsal were often at the cheaper end of the range when we were searching by price.
It's always the way isn't it? Resorts build lifts to link areas together, and then the prices creep up..
Thanks for the feedback on the big area that's available - I'm certainly in favour of another visit now.
