Solo ski trip

Keen family of skiers, but ExH are now divorced.

We are alternating ski holidays with the kids. This coming winter will be my first year skiing on my own.

How can I find a good solo ski holiday? Not one where it is all about dating (do such trips even exist, once you are in your 40s?). But one where I will end I finding people to ski with, and hopefully share a table with at dinner, rather than on a solo table on my own?

I'm a good skier, with quite a lot of off-piste experience in my younger years. But don't mind sticking to on-piste if needed. (I'm not as fit as I was 10 years ago either, but clearly would prepare properly.)

I've had a look at Club Med which looks ok? Has anyone else tried them? It's restricted on where you can get a single room though.

I've also looked at Neilson Ski. Again, had anyone tried them.

Would be looking at late Jan or early March.

Try Mark Warner. I have been skiing with them having left DH at home and there were several people holidaying on their own so we all skied and had dinner together. I had a great week

A company that offers ski-hosting/ski-guiding will probably be your answer. MW doesn’t do this anymore but I think Neilson still do. The MW hotel Rosanna in St Anton is very sociable though. (Met my sking crowd and DH there!)
Friendship travel do group trips which gives you someone to travel and eat with but focus more on the social side.
The Ski Club of Great Britain also do group trips. More focused on the skiing than other group trips - they hire instructors to help guide. Less focus on the party side of skiing but still very sociable. They always look like they’re having fun.
If you want to improve there’s the Warren Smith ski academy with a chalet in Verbier. I’ve never done this but it looks amazing.

I went with MW last Jan. There was no ski guiding but we are all experienced skiers so could read a piste map ;-)

I’m in the same situation. Ski club GB do lots of stuff and I’ve also come across www.skigathering.com.

I’m about to book a week with Ski Club’s Freshtracks in Italy in late January. PM me if you want.

There is a chalet in Morzine that has singles weeks where you go out as a group in the morning & ski with your fellow guests in the afternoon. Gets great reviews.

I did a week at Simon Butlers chalet in Megeve which was awesome - went as a single & there were lots of other singles there too. Ski lesson thrown in in the morning too - all levels catered for.

Otherwise, take a chance, book your flight & accommodation and have lessons in the morning & ski with your new friends in the afternoon. I booked five mornings of lessons in Chamonix last year when my partner went home for a week to do some work. Out of the 10 of us who were on the intermediates course, half of us were there just to have someone to ski with and formed groups in the afternoon. We are all still in touch now. Age range 40 - 60 and there were a couple of cracking singletons too....

The WoW trip looks good!

Cold Fusion are the chalet in Morzine people.

Snowheads.com always people on there looking for folk to ski with/help fill chalets and they also have "bashes' at various points in the season.

I haven't used them but was recommended Colletts here when planning to go just DS and I - they do groups of ski guiding and go to Italian dolomites

hi
I am in exactly the same position - skied loads when younger, single with twins aged nearly 7. Am interested in who you ended up booking with as I am now looking!
thanks
