Skiing in Les Arcs - advice please

Hi there
We are looking at going to Les Arcs next Easter with our 6 and 8 year old girls. They are complete and utter beginners.

Just wondered if anyone thinks Les Arcs 1950 or 2000 is better for this or if it makes no difference. Location to nursery slopes is key as we don’t want to be walking too far with the kids. And also would be good to have other things to do in case they need some time out from skiing.
I went to Les Arcs 1950 15 years ago and loved it but that was pre kids.
We are 2 families of four going so any recommendations on accommodation (we want to be in one apartment together) greatly appreciated too
Thank you!x

Hi there. Full disclosure, I work for a ski company and we specialise in Les Arcs and I have 2 kids aged 7 and 9. We have been to both villages with them and both are great. There are not many 4 bedroom apartments in Arc 1950 so if you want to be together then that might be a deciding factor for location. Once the kids can ski through Arc 1950, they go to the St Jaques chair lift which is the one that the beginners go to from Arc 2000 once they have graduated from the moving carpets so access to the slopes is the same. I’m away this weekend but would be happy to talk to you more if you have any other questions.

Thanks for your message, really appreciate you getting back to me. We have got a four bed apartment in Arc 1950 so that’s that decision made! I do have another question for you though!..... is there a particular ski school you would recommend.....
Me and my friend aren’t convinced our 6 year olds are going to take to skiing brilliantly by putting them into a big group in ski school. The first day or two could be crucial to them liking or hating skiing! So we are looking at a private group lesson for the four children for five mornings for 2.5-3 hrs each morning (two are 6 and two are 8 years old)..... we are after an English speaking instructor and one who will be good with encouraging the girls but nurturing at the same time when they are tired and running out of steam. I’m sure (hope!) if they have the right start they will love it so we really want to start things on the right foot!
Is there anyone or a particular company you would suggest given your knowledge?
Thanks again
Sarah

Did you book ski school yet? We go to Arcs 1950/2000 (good choice!) with kids most years and always use Spirit 1950 ski school in 1950, always been great with our kids, big party, kids of all ages.
