nursery slopes in France or Switzerland

Hi, we are trying to find a resort that has easy access to one or more nursery slopes. Not Chatel, we've done that twice already.
As one of my dds has mild cerebral palsy, she doesn't cope well with drag or T-lifts, so we are looking for resorts where we can access the nursery slopes via a chairlift or directly from a car park, either in France or Switzerland. Can you help?

Anyone...?

Could she cope with magic carpets? I think Belle Plagne has magic carpets instead of drags on it’s nursery slopes.
How old is she? My little boy learned in ESF club Piou Piou and I think most of their snow gardens have carpets but not really suitable for older children. I think Tignes’ nursery slope has a little chair rather than a drag on it.
Once she can ski blues any French resort can be done avoiding drags.

LIZS · 16/08/2018 18:09

Are you assuming there is a magic carpet as most nursery slopes have drag lifts to get any length of run.

Cittadineve · 16/08/2018 18:21

Usually the snow gardens have magic carpets and the bigger nursery slopes have button drags but iirc Belle plagne has a longer magic carpet and Tignes has a chair lift.

The lower part of Alpe D'Huez is very accessible direct from accommodation and parking.

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 16/08/2018 18:24

Flaine has several beginner slopes that are served by chairlifts or 'yoghurt pot' style lifts as I recall

YouCalled · 16/08/2018 18:53

Courcheval 1650
Have a look at Arosa. Think you can access nursery slopes from a car park (not at main cable car in town centre but up the road). It also has the most amazing separate paths for sledging which you can access by the cable car. Hotels have free sledges.

FadedRed · 16/08/2018 19:33

Wengen in Switzerland, the nursery slopes are in the centre of the village. There also blue runs that you can access by cable car or the train. There are only two t-bars on the Wengen/mannlichen slopes and both can be avoided without really impacting on your ability to get around the mountains.

mariniere · 16/08/2018 21:32

Not the easiest to get to but Val d'Isere Village nursery slope has a chair. You can also get the gondola up/down Bellevarde where there is a huge bowl of greens.

Thank you!
Tignes and Belle Plants sound promising.
She will be 10 in November.
She struggles with button lifts for the same reason as with T-bars and also drag lifts. She has balance issues and finds it very difficult getting on and off under time pressure. The cable cars you have to stand in are also tricky. We were in Chamonix last winter and by the time we'd survived the cable car queue and then the ride itself to get up to the lovely green runs, her legs were exhausted and she ended up very upset and refusing to ski altogether. That's why we want to make it as easy as possible for her next time... Magic carpets are fine as long as one of us are right behind her and she can hold on to our poles so she doesn't fall forward when it suddenly stops. Chair lifts are also fine with one of us next to her.

What about Morzine? Seating in the Pleney cable car, short walk uphill to the covered flat escalator and a couple of short chairs nearby. There is also a cross country skiing area in the Pleney area which might be worth trying..

ForgivenessIsDivine · 17/08/2018 10:06

Or.... Laax. .. walk on walk off chair lifts. We're the best thing ever when I was learning to snow board. But I don't know about nursery slopes in Laax I am afraid.

mariniere · 17/08/2018 10:26

Tignes just as bad a transfer as Val dIsere; Val every time for me!

Jokat · 17/08/2018 10:27

Thank you Forgiveness, I will look into these as well.

Cittadineve do you remember if the magic carpet at Belle Plagne is available to everyone, not just ski schools?

OP posts:
Cittadineve · 17/08/2018 15:02

I think they are open to anyone. It’s only the little snow gardens that are exclusively for ski schools.
Belle Plagne does get very busy. If you are looking for quiet and minimal lift queues Puy St Vincent is good. There’s only 1 drag which you can easily avoid, all the other lifts are chairs. It’s very quiet but a much smaller ski area.

bluetrees · 17/08/2018 15:08

Les Carroz - the nursery slope has a magic carpet. There is a little walk from the gondola but the gondola is seated. The other green does have a button lift so you might be limited to the one run.

PetraDelphiki · 17/08/2018 15:11

How easy nursery slopes? I’m just thinking that colfosco in the sella Ronda (Italy, Dolomites) has fabulous long blue runs served by chair lift where you see a lot of lessons happening...in fact I think the nursery slopes in Badia are chair lift too...

Shutupsidney · 18/08/2018 20:24

Val has chairs to the nursery slopes.
Cervinia too - and a very long carpet

Florabelle · 19/08/2018 09:56

Les Gets? Bubble car or chairlift to nursery slopes with magic carpet.

Jokat · 19/08/2018 18:57

Brilliant. Thank you all so so much SmileFlowers, lots to choose from!

Oh, Robin why are your posts gone??

Courchevel looks like a particularly expensive resort. Which place would you rate as second and third best for what we're looking for please?
