Les Arc at Easter - how cold?

We're finally biting the bullet and doing our first family ski trip at Easter with the DC. We fly on 1st April and are staying in Les Arc 2000.

I'm just starting lists to make sure I remember everything, but I'm not sure how cold it'll be, so how much the DC will need to layer up under their ski jackets. Base layer, fleece then jacket? Or will that be too warm for Easter? I've not been for about 10 years, and the latest I've been was early March but I seem to remember it being pretty mild even then.

Also, footwear for off the slopes - do we all need snow boots? Or would any waterproof shoes be okay assuming the resort itself won't be too snowy by then.

Any other recommendations for things to take, or not to bother with, gratefully received! DC are 7, 5 and 1 (obv youngest will just be in creche and not skiing!)

Hello

I've been to Les Arc but not for a few years (and not as late as Easter).

I would still take snow boots. It's unlikely that anyone's feet will boil and you can still get snow at Easter.

The layers will depend on how cold your children get and how high up the mountain they go. If it is sunny, I would probably be okay with just a base layer and a jacket. Do the children have thin fleeces?

We went to Les arc at Easter a few years ago. We almost didn't get there as there was heavy snow but then it was boiling hot and sunny. DS was 5 and we sent him to ski school all wrapped up but when we picked him up no one had offered him water or taken his jacket off so he was really dehydrated. I would wear layers you could take off if you had to. Our apartment was ski in/out so lots of snow around. Also the kids will want to play out in it so boots would be better. Have a good time!!!

Take LOTS of sunscreen. Allow for cold, but a tshirt and jacket is often enough.

@rubberducker oh we’re heading to Arc 2000 on the same day as you! My two will just be wearing sports tshirts under their jackets plus shorts! However they are very warm blooded! We’ve been to paradiski before and this is normal clobber. Good tip about sun lotion and we took sunglasses too! Have a great holiday Smile

Thanks everyone, feels tricky this year as sounds like there'll still be plenty of snow so could be colder than 'normal' Easter weather but lots of layers sounds like the way forward.

Very excited now!

Last year (which was admittedly a much warmer season and Easter was a bit later rhan this year) we went to La Plagne (which is the other half of the Paradiski area) We used to get a chairlift that went over an apartment block and there were women on the balconies sunbathing in bikinis.

There were some sights at the airport. Proper panda eyes and weird sunburn marks.

We are going to Les Arcs 200 the week after you. Last year Avoriaz was really hot at Easter. My kids all get hot and keep moving so will just wear thin base layer under ski suit.
