What to do, where to ski, where to eat ( especially with kids) and any other tips. Very grateful. Thank you

Megeve is quite possibly the prettiest resort I've been to.

Difficult to pinpoint a particular area to ski in - you usually just head up to Mont D'arbois and there's lots of runs down in different directions. I particularly like the part going over to St Gervais.

The Rochebrune area is nice too, bit smaller - you take a different lift up for that.

I ate in the chalet every night. The resort is not cheap at all - it's very chic.

There's a beautiful outdoor ice rink in the centre.

Ate at a good mountan restaurant called Woody's which has table service.

Also another nice restaurant with table service was at the mid station on the Rochebrune telecabine.

Head up the Jaillet lift to the Combloux side - lovely gentle slopes, not very busy and reasonably priced restaurants (Au Petit Cuchet, C'or D'or, OPD)
disclaimer: I have a chalet in Combloux so I am biased, I LOVE it there Grin

We had lunch at Woody's on Friday, (Princesses lift 1/2 way up) and it is relaxed, buzzy and reasonably priced. For a lot of fun, do go to the Folie Douce for mid afternoon apres ski dancing)

The Jazz club in Megeve is brilliant! They don't just play jazz and the vibe is very chilled and low key.

My favourite restaurants in Megeve are:
Chamois and Le Torrent (husband and wife owners)
Le Prieuré
Nano Caffè
Cafe 2 la poste
Le Crystobald (tiny local restaurant - husband cooks, wife is the server)
Le Refuge

If you are there this week, book for lunch and dinner as the Parisians are in town for 1/2 term

Also, MOST restaurants have children's menus, just ask for it.

Take the children ice-skating and to the Luge at Jaillet. The sports centre is brilliant and there is lots for children to do. Also go to the tourist office, as they will have a list of children's activities for the week which will be free.

The creperie next to the little cinema in town in great for snacks and a light supper. You will have a brilliant time. PM me if you would like any more advice.

Thanks everyone for your tips. I will print these and take with me/ first looking through all the tips. We are excited to be going although our French is quite dismal. 🙂
