Realistically what can I expect to pay for 2 adults and 2 children (7&10) skiing or snowboarding for a week (xmas/new year period)
Not fussy about where as none of us experienced in winter hols.
Looking for deals that I can include flights/accommodation, transfers, lift passes hiring gear .

You can pick up some good deals as you get closer to Christmas

E.g. here

I think if you're looking for Christmas / New Year, which is still early in the season, you need to go high to increase the chance of good snow. As a result, the packages are really expensive. I don't know how high those resorts are in the previous link (Les Gets / La Plagne etc), but just do your research. We skied over Christmas in 2015 and we're going again this year, but have booked everything separately (flights, accommodation, car hire). Its the only way we can afford it. Certainly in 2015, the packages available for us (albeit we are a family of 5) for the snow-sure resorts were upwards of £5k for travel and accommodation, and would have had ski passes on top of that (probably another £1k).

Agree with namechange.. doing it independently usually works out cheaper than a package. We've done fully catered over New Year for a family of 4 for under £4k.

Look at erna low and peak retreat for self catered accommodation. Drive or own flights. Local ski school. Def go high! Should be able to do for 3k all in including equipment/ ski pass/ private group lesson
