Kinderhotel (or similar) recommendations

Planning to go skiing 1st week of the Easter holidays with DH (v good skier but happy in less challenging slopes), myself (distinctly average skier who will probably only ski till early afternoon) and 2 DD aged 5 and almost 3 at time of travel. 5 year old skied a bit last year and loved it. We were thinking Kinderhotels as they seem v kid friendly and seem to include childcare for the youngest without being extortionate. However having read the thread about an Italian Kinderhotel I'm having a wobble. Has anyone got any personal recommendations?

I haven't stayed in one for skiing, but we did do a kinderhotel in Germany recently and it was absolutely brilliant. The only thing I'd flag is that under 3s are charged at something like 15 euro/hour for babysitting at the one we went to, but that might be different depending on the star rating of the actual hotel.

Thanks I will investigate that carefully!

We went to a Kinderhotel in Austria. DS got his first chickenpox spot on Day 1 of a 10 day booked stay there, and they got a doctor in to examine him. Based on the doctor's advice they told us that we should leave or be quarantined for the whole 10 days - all of us. Of the 4 of us, DS was the only one still to have chickenpox so the rest of us were unlikely to be contagious. Even DS would only be contagious for about 5 days. We arrived late on a Friday night and by lunchtime next day we were out of there.

If you look at the Tripadvisor reviews for the hotel we stayed at, the reviews are all great except for those families where a child became ill during the holiday. And kids never get ill, eh, do they? Hmm

We've skied with Ski Famille and Ski Esprit several times, and found them to be brilliant. Ski Famille in particular. Even when one of the kids in the chalet (not mine this time!) got ill.

What's your budget?

Hi Thanks for the info about sickness that doesn't sound great. I think budget wise we are looking at max £3000 (not including flights but everything else) for the week which I think rules out Ski Esprit etc. I think I just thought about Kinder as it seemed much cheaper.

I don't think that would rule Esprit out even including flights, depending on which resort you wanted. Maybe tell them what you are looking for and see if they can find anything in your budget?
When I've costed both Kinderhotels have been more expensive but I was looking at one of the more expensive hotels....Their policy on chicken pox sounds reasonable to me.

Fallensteiner Hotel Cristallo in Austria, 1 hr from Salzburg in a little resort called Katschberg. It is absolutely perfect with kids. WE have been there 3 times because it is so easy with kids. Great little family rooms, small soft play, kids pool but also adult spa etc. Has it's own ski school. The baby slope is right in front of the hotel. No a vast terrain but perfect for families we first went when older two were six and three! Wishing we had funds to go this year with now 12, 9 and 5 year old!
